Dwell Rocker Linkage

ME321 Final Project

Group 10:
Logan O’Hara
Eli Hargreaves
Brady Hallenbeck
Navode Wijekoon
Adrian Weerakkody
Project Goals

★ Break apart the mechanism to

understand all parts
★ Analyze velocity and acceleration using
Matlab
★ Created a moving 3D model in
Solidworks
★ Check the Grashof requirements
★ Apply the mechanism to a real world
application
Dwell Rocker Linkage
▶ The term “dwell” is used to describe the motion of the output link when it is held
stationary, or theoretical output velocity of 0, during part of the mechanism's revolution

▶ The output link will have a forward and return position with the dwell period occurring
between these two transition

▶ A Dwell Rocker requires a minimum of 6 links

▶ V shape coupler acts as two links
