INTRODUCTION
• Audio spot lighting is a very recent technology that creates a focussed beams
of soundsimilar to light beams coming out ofa flash light.

• Specific listeners can be targeted with sound without others nearby

hearingit.
• The ultrasound column acts as a airborne speaker, and as the beam moves
through the air gradual distortion takes place in a predictable way.this
gives rise to audible components that can be accurately predicted and
controlled…..

WAVE WORKS
History

• Invented by the founder of Holosonics Labs, Dr. F. Joseph Pompei
of MIT.

• First attempts created a single tone (1975).

• Audio tone made directive using a transducer array by Ricoh,
Japan (1983).

• Commercially available in 2000 by the company Holosonics.
• Disney was amongst the first major corporations to adopt it for

use.

• Loudspeakers are direct radiating—that they

fundamentally a piston like device designed to
directly pump air molecules into motion to create audible sound we
hear
• The beam angle of audible sound is very wide, just about 360
degrees
• In order to focus sound into a narrow beam,
you need to maintain a low beam angle that is dictated by wavelength.

TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

• The Audio Spotlight & Hyper Sonic Sound uses ultrasonic

energy to create extremely narrow beam of sound that behave like
beam of light

• These ultrasonic sound have very small wavelength

MODES OF LISTENING:
ADVANTAGES

•Can focus sound only at the place you want.

•The directed sound travels much faster .
•Dispersion can be controlled.
•Highly cost effective and longer life span.
•There is no lag in reproducing the sound…..
DISADVANTAGES

• Lack of mass production. i.e, each unit must be hand made.

• The most common form of distortion is clipping.
