Quick Question:
1.The company need 80 extensions for employees.
2.They have 1 SIP trunk, 4 PSTN lines and need
one GSM trunk.

Which model should we choose for them? And what

modules and expansion card do they need?
Now we’ve chosen a suitable model for a
company, let’s get started!

Now, we’ll logon the WebGUI for the first time!

Part 3 Basic Configuration
3.1 HTTPS

This is the first thing you will see after logon, on S-PBX we logon through HTTPs.
Https, simply, is a encrypted channel for secure communication over a computer network. It
processes two certificates for server and client to protect the privacy. Because WebGUI is
not a public website, the web browser will alert you, don’t hesitate, believe us, just go
ahead and login.
3.2 Password and Account
When you log in PBX at the first time, S-PBX will recommend you to change your
initial password into a stronger one.

Step If you want to change the password, you need to input the old password and a new one,
then retype it. Also, you need to put in your email address to help you find the password back
if you forget it.
Password Reset

Step 1 Administrator
Step 2 My Settings page
Step 3 Put in old password
Step 4 Put in a new password and retype It
Step 5 Put in a new email address
Step 6 Click Save to confirm the new password
After the confirmation of the login security, we
need to configure the network settings for the
LAN port and WAN port so that your S-PBX will
be able to get connected to local and public
network.
3.3 Network Settings
LAN Port

Step 1 Setting Page

Step 2 System If you’d like to enable S-PBX as the DHCP server
Step 3 Network in your local network ( for auto provisioning of
Step 4 Lan port data settings IP Phones, or other devices) please remember
to disable the DHCP server in other devices in
the same network, like your router or other sip
server.
WAN port

To enable the WAN port, you should choose the Dual Mode.
WAN port is disabled by default, you need to enable it before setting the
WAN port. WAN port can also be used to realize connection with local
network, so DHCP server is available on WAN port. On Bridge mode, WAN
port can be used to connect your PC or other equipment in local network, in
this mode LAN and WAN will be working as uplink and downlink of switch
[1] DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol): It is a communications protocol that network
administrators use to centrally manage and automate the network configuration of devices attaching to
an IP network. With DHCP, computers request IP addresses and networking parameters automatically
from a DHCP server, reducing the need for a network administrator or a user to configure these settings
manually.

[2]Static IP Address: Static IP addresses are manually assigned to a computer by an administrator. With it,
computers own a permanent IP address to access network.

[3]PPPoE(Point-to-point Protocol over Ethernet): It is a network protocol sometimes used by broadband

modems for DSL Internet service. With it, computers access network with the residential gateway through
WAN ports without the setting of IP Address.
Step 1 System Page
Step 2 Network
Step 3 Basic Settings Enable or Disable the WAN port
Step 4 Choose Dual Mode to enable the WAN port WAN port data settings
Step 5 WAN port data settings, choose DHCP, Static IP Address or PPPoE as the port
Step 6 Click Save and Apply to confirm the data
Then we’re going to configure default prompt for
system prompt. You can choose what language you
like as the system default prompt.
3.4. Update System Prompt

Step 1 Settings page Step 4 System Prompts Settings

Step 2 PBX page Step 5 Upload a local file as a new System Prompts
Step 3 Voice Prompts Step 6 Download Online Prompts
Step 7 Click Save and Apply to confirm new system prompt
Once configure auto detection, the system will automatically detect
from Yeastar server to download the prompt file of the chosen
language.
Usually, the default date and time of S-PBX are
appropriate for China.

So we need to define the local date and time. It

is necessary for time condition setting in call
routing and some other features.
3.5 Date and Time

Step 1 Setting Page Step 5 Choose your time zone

Step 2 System Step 6 Enable or disable the daylight saving time
Step 3 Set Date and time Step 7 Manually put in the date and time
Step 4 Define the URL of the NTP server

S-PBX supports Automatic Synchronize date and time as well as manual

setting. Step 4, 5, 6 indicate how to set your time in the automatic mode.
Step 7 shows how to set it in the manual mode.
Quick Question:

1. The administrator of a company need to change a stronger

password and connect it with his email to ensure the security of their
communication system.

2. The company prefers to define a local prompt as their system

prompt.

3. The head office of a company is located in UK, they should change

the date and time to fix the local situation.

What should the administrator do for the settings?

Hey guys! Now we’ve finished the basic settings for
S-PBX. But it’s just the first step of the whole setting
process. So let’s turn to configure the extension for
a basic communication

Step 3 Click Save to finish adding a new extension

In step 2, it’s recommended to set the same number for extension, name, caller ID and
register name. The original password is generated automatically by the system, you can
customize your own password. We recommend that you set a complex one to guarantee
the system security.
Step 4 Click Apply
Please remember to ALWAYS click
the orange Apply icon so that the
configuration will take effect.
• Concurrent Registrations

Note: Concurrent Registrations is a new function of S-series PBX. The maximum number is 5,
which means 5 devices can share a same number. For example, extension 1000. The number 1000
not only can be used for the phone in office, but also can be registered for the user’s mobile phone
or the phone at home. If someone calls 1000, the phone in office, the phone at home, and the
mobile phone will ring up at the same time. Users will not miss any callings when they leave out of
office for business.

a company has 80 phones that need to be registered to
extensions for making phone calls, it’s inefficient to
register them one by one. So S-PBX support auto
provision to help administrator to save time.

Auto provision make it possible to register a multiple

Service Provider is usually used to register other devices like other SIP Server or gateway
to S-PBX. So you have to put in the right IP Address of said device.
The definition of trunks is the basic step of
external communication settings. Now we need
outbound routes for calling out and inbound
routes for calling from outside.
Before we add the outbound routes, please configure
the time conditions firstly. AS we need to define the
outbound route according to the office schedule, time
condition setting is really necessary.

extensions will be sent through selected trunks. If Office Hour is enabled, this route is only
available during business hour as we set in part 7.1.2.
After the settings of outbound call rules, the
defined extensions can call out through the
specific trunk on the basis of outbound rules.

But for a more convenient way of dialing, we can

collocate a dial pattern for a specific outbound call

Now we’ve finished the settings of inbound routes, then
extensions in the office could receive external calls
successfully. But the company wants an automatic
attendants for the callers to guide them to specific service
they want, so we should confirm the preferences in IVR.

IVR(Interactive voice response) interacts with callers

through dialogue so that they can service their inquiries
by following the guidance. So we should configure IVR

Quick Question:

1. a company has 80 IP phones to be registered, the administrator want a

fast registration to save time.

2. a company has 1 GSM trunk and 4 PSTN trunk. What’s more, they want to
register a SIP trunk from service provider.

3. The business time in a company is Monday to Friday, 9:00-12:00, 14:00-

18:00.

4. a company wants to define the SIP trunk as the specific outbound routes
for extension 1000-1030. And the PSTN trunks is the inbound routes for
extension 1031-1040.

What can the administrator do to set up a smooth

communication system for company?
After the below settings, a company has set up a
common telephone system basically. They can use IP
phones for internal or external callings of business.

However, to confirm a better and more convenient

communication environment, we should do some
advanced settings for company.
There are several divisions with precise responsibilities in a
company. Some of them may communicate with their
customers by phone in most cases. So they want to direct
calls according to departmental function. We need to set
ring group to realize that.
Part 4 Basic Management of S-PBX
4.1 Ring Group
A group of extensions are collected together as a ring group by administrator. So any call that matches
the routing condition will be accessible for all members in the ring group.

Step 1 PBX page

Step 2 Call Features Step 5 Define name and number to ring group
Step 3 Ring Group Step 6 Define ring strategy
Step 4 Click to add Ring Group Step 7 8 Assign extensions as account in the ring group
Step 9 Set destination to deliver calls if all account fail to answer coming calls
Step 10 Click Save and Apply to confirm the configuration
The extension number should also match setting in general reference; we
support two ring strategies: Ring All Simultaneously and Sequentially. If
choose the first one, all accounts will ring at the same time, if choose the
second one, all accounts will ring according the order of extension.
4.2 Call Parking
Call parking allows extensions to put callers in waiting while dealing with other callers, instead of
hanging up the call.

Extensive mode, all 3 modes will be allowed.
In order to simplify some complex phone
numbers that the company always use, S-PBX
supports the speed dial to turn the original
phone number to a code, so that they could be
dialed out directly and simply.
4.5 Speed Dial

Step 4 Click to add speed dial

prefix followed by the source number, the call will be sent to destination number. In this
example, by dialing *995, you directly make a phone call to 8556932210
To help clients to save the cost of communication,
the administrator of a company can set the
references of call back. Once the specific number
that you defined in the call back rules calls in, S-PBX
will hang out automatically and call back through
the chosen trunk immediately.
