Question 3: What have

you learned from your

audience feedback?
By: Hassan Taher
Outline

• For this evaluation question I asked a selected group of people

from our target audience and asked them questions that was
similar from our pre-questionnaire questions, and here are there
responses.
Who are our target audience?

• Target Audience: 15-35

• Gender: Male and Female
• Socio-economic group: B to E
Our Target Audience

• In order to rightfully pick which age range would be the most suitability to watch our
shirt film ‘Bad Faith’, we decided to carry out a pre-questionnaire just to get a brief
feedback from them. The pre-questionnaire was fairly straightforward we handed out
our questionnaire to the public and asked questions such as What is your age?, what is
your favourite genre?. After we got back all the questionnaire we read through it and
after analysing our research the stats show that many people like drama films, so that
was one of the key elements behind the decision making of our film genre. After that we
decided as a group that we would make our target audience from 15-35, the reason
being is that the ages could relate to our narrative hence why the target audience age
has a massive gap.
• We also conducted psychographic questionnaire. The reason why we conducted this field
of research is because we wanted to know if there was any other way of making our film
more appealing, hence we decided to let the general public give their verdicts to help us
reach our maximum potential.
Feedback

• Before we made the film the feedback we received was very crucial for us as
we wanted what was the best for our target audience and as a group we were
willing to take on board the slight changes we had to do in order to create a
spectacular short film. After finding out from our pre-questionnaire that
majority of the people enjoy watching drama films we decided to incorporate
key themes and motifs that captures the true essence of a thought-provoking
drama film. So we decided to make some changes to the script to make things
seem more better to the audience such as we thought about the bit for the
abusive scenes we wanted to make it seem real as possible because we wanted
our film to bring a sense of realism hence why we decided to exaggerate the
scenes to make it seem real. We also adjusted the locations as well.
At Research and Planning Stages

• Throughout our planning and research stages, we as a group had individual roles within the group to
play, and had to follow the ‘production schedule’ to keep to date with who needs to do what and
what deadline we had to complete the task by. Within the production schedule we had undertake
various of research such as genre research, SWOT Analysis, Risk Assessment and Storyboard. The
production schedule was a like a tracking process of how much each individual member of the group
did. Throughout this process, we launched our own blog and website to display our findings from
our research. We made a Wix website because we thought that this particular software would
enable our work to look aesthetically pleasing and professional.
• When gaining feedback from our target audience, it was essential for us to make changes to our
production because it was in our best interest to listen to what our consumers want and aid our film
to reach its potential, hence why we conducted research such as pre-questionnaire and
psychographics questionnaire to help us reach out to our target audience.
• Moreover, it was vital for us as a group to keep contact with each other so that we all can keep up
to date with our work and help each other improve our paperwork.
At Research and Planning Stages

• Within our production team we had in total 3 members: Luwang Gitteh (Director), Tanika Singh
(Cinematographer) and Hassan Taher (Editor and Sound). Each member of the group had specific
tasks to fill out in the production schedule, which was essential to show a sign of recognition for
the group. For example Luwang Gitteh was the director for our group and she had to play integral
role when it came to doing the research for the production team, such as finding the most suitable
actors for the film and do extensive research upon our chosen film genre.
• Within the Research and Planning stages, we worked together to achieve the most reliable and
effective research needed to help aid our filming process. One of the most significant ways in which
we carried out research was providing a pre-questionnaire. The pre-questionnaire id questionnaire
that covers the key elements of our film and this helped us gain feedback what we should we
improve upon this covered the synopsis, narrative, BBFC Certification and script. After collecting
back the pre-questionnaire our data shows that our target audience 15-35 will help us to make vast
improvements to our narrative as this was relevant enough to our target audience to understand
our storyline clearly.
During production stages

How did feedback ensure that you were meeting their desires and interests?
• When considering our target audience’s feedback it was essential for us to listen to them
and make those improvements so that our short film can reach out to our target
audience and help create a buzz. We made changes to the script and narrative and made
even more realistic making the audience relate to our characters. It was key for us to
carry out the pre-questionnaire and assess various of individuals such as all ages,
ethnicities to identify which groups of people has the most relevance to our characters.
How did you decide if the feedback was reliable or useful?
• The fact that we asked a variety of people based on demographics and psychographics, it
helped us get fair share of different viewpoints.
During the production stages

How did feedback for the target audience/ focus group reveal audiences likes and dislikes
helping final narrative decisions/representation decisions?
• When we received audience feedback we wanted to make slight changes to our characters
representation because the audience felt that the characters lacked in showing their true
image towards them, hence why we decided to create a sense of realism by showing utter
dominance from the male perspective to reflect back to the idea of society being male
dominated.
• Betrayal and deceit is a very sensitive matter in couples relationship as nowadays men tend to
do that in society resulting women to become weak and vulnerable leaving them isolated to
suffer alone. We wanted to display this idea as we wanted our narrative to have enough
relevance to our target audience to that they can empathize with the characters, therefore
this creates a sense of realism. The fact that we showed various of emotions from both our
characters shows that in life you won’t be happy at all times, our film helps to send a message
to our target audience that they could learn something from our characters personal
experience which will allow them to understand the struggle both characters have faced in
their lives.
Question 1: What gender are you?
