An independent clause contains a subject, a verb, and
can stand alone as a complete idea (expresses a complete thought/ makes sense). Subject + Verb + Complement Dependent clause begins with a subordinator such as (if, that, who, ….) followed by a subject, verb, and complement. It does not express a complete thought/idea and cannot stand by itself as a sentence.
