Netherlands.

recorded in 2016 at 11.35
million.
• They use the 'Euro'
currency.
THE BELGIUM FLAG
This Is Belgium's Flag. The Black, Yellow And
Red Stand For Freedom And Revolution.
July 21st Is Their Flag Day And Marks Their
National Independence.
POPULATION
STATISTICS
 In 2016, it was said that woman outnumbered men
by 200,000.
 In 2011, it was said that life expectancy was aged 77
for men and 82 for women.
 It is said that 1,057,666 are of a different nationality.
 Ages 18-64 are considered the working population.
 The fertility rate was said to be 1.74 per woman in
2014.
JOINING THE EU
Belgium was one of six core states who founded the EU in
1957, the other five being France, Italy, Luxembourg, The
Netherlands and West Germany.
The reason for the EU was to try put an end to deadly wars
that were beginning to become a habit and since the 1950's
countries have been uniting economically and politically to
try ensure lasting peace.
CULTURE
LANGUAGE: There are actually three, not two, official languages
which is not usually known. The three languages are Dutch, French
and German yet there are even more languages such
as Luxembourgish which can be heard widely across Belgium.

RELIGION: The main religion of Belgium is said to be


Christianity and to narrow it down even more it is Roman Catholic.
This is said to be 58% of the population and then 7% is Protestant.
CULTURE
FOOD: Although Belgium is known most likely for its chocolate
traditional Belgium food would be Belgian beef stew which is
made with beer and served with a side of bread or chips and beer.

SPORT: Traditionally Belgians played an ancient sport called


crossage which is what golf is based off of. But as of recent years
popular sports would be football, basketball, swimming and many
more.
CULTURE
MEDIA: Belgium has two different public broadcasting
organizations unlike many other countries who only have one.
95% of the population are hooked up to cable TV because it
offers a variety of channels in multiple languages. Belgian press
is self-regulated by the Federation of Editors.

MUSIC: The music in Belgium is quite diverse because of the


multiple languages and the top three music genre are;
• Early and classical music.
• Jazz with the Blues.
• Folk and other traditional music.
