“Emotional intelligence is the ability to perceive emotions, to access

and generate emotions in order to help the thinking process. It is the
base for success-bringing learning competences”

•Emotional intelligence (EQ) is one of the most important skills we possess. It is more
important for job performance than IQ, experience, or technical ability. Studies across
industries show that EQ predicts job performance 2 to 1 over any other skill.

EQ Research:

- The research comprised over 80% of the faculty's professors (112 persons)

- The technology for data evaluation and processing was acquired from the American
company TalentSmart

- The questionnaires were filled in online by each participant and the data processing
was done by the American company.

The Emotional Intelligence Appraisal – Team EQ describes the way in which the team
members perceive emotions and how they manage these emotions efficiently.

All scores on the Emotional Intelligence Appraisal are measured on a 0 to 100 point scale.
Usually, higher Team EQ scores are in the 80s and 90s.
Lower Team EQ scores are in the 50s and 60s.

The Overall Team Emotional Intelligence Score: 75

CONCLUSIONS
(i) Internal Relationship Management - score (71) !
(This dimension of EQ is in direct relationship with the psycho-social competences)
• weak communication existing at the team level
• discouragement of changes
• weak sense of humour (probably due to the seriousness implied by the engineering
profession)

(ii) External Relationship Management - score (73) !

• weak communication with the students

(iii) Management of emotions - score 75 – can be improved!

A faulty management of emotions leads to crumbling teams that mobilise only with
difficulty around common values, as opposed to cohesive and successful teams.

(iv) Students are the main beneficiaries of this type of intelligence, when it manifests
itself, not only because it brings positive relationship between the actors in the
educational process, but also because, by coming into contact with this type of
intelligence, a “contagion” occurs.

• Management area: trainings to improve EQ level.

• Individual area: discovering, improving and practicing emotional aptitudes.
