TITLE:

Optimization of carbon dioxide gas absorption from air

mixture using response surface methodology (RSM)
with three different parameters (type of packing, air
flowrate and solute flowrate)
INTRODUCTION
GLOBAL ISSUE
• Global warming

• Carbon dioxide

• Implement green technology

• Absorb CO2 in the air
• Increase efficiency of gas absorption for CO2
CO2 GAS ABSORPTION

• A process where molecules enter a bulk phase

• Solubility
• Solvent : Water
• Simple and versatile
WHEN?
Gas absorption is executed when:

• Gaseous component to be removed is a product that

is wanted.

• Gaseous component to be removed is unwanted

OBJECTIVES
1. To calculate the percentage(%) removal of carbon dioxide for
the system

2. To study the feasibility of the system to scrub or remove

carbon dioxide gas from the system

3. To find the optimization condition towards better absorption

process using response surface methodology (RSM)
SCOPE OF STUDY

1. Percentage removal of the CO2

2. The feasibility of the system as CO2 scrubber

• Normality test

3. Optimum condition for the absorption process

• Response surface mothodology (RSM)
PROBLEM STATEMENT

The worsening level of green house gases (CO2) in

atmosphere turns serious attention towards finding a
better condition to optimize the absorption of those
gases. Optimizing current processes is one of the
way to deal with this complication.

CONCLUSION

Optimization of CO2 gas capture is one of the crucial

effort to ensure a better future for the next
generation. Thus understanding and improving the
efficiency of CO2 gas absorption is elementary to
achieve the aforementioned vision.
