P-trap
P traps vaguely resembles the letter
“p” when turned on its side.
P traps exits into wall behind the
sink
S TRAP
The “S” shape traps water so
that odour from sewer don’t
come up through the drain.
Q trap
Its similar to S trap and is used
in upper storeys other than the
ground floor
FLOOR TRAP
These traps are generally used to admit sullage
from floors of kitchen and bathrooms. These
are invariably provided with CI or GI stainless
steel gratings at the top so as to prevent the
entry of solid matter into drainpipe. Fig. shows
the features of floor trap.
GULLY TRAP
These traps are constructed outside the
building to carry waste water discharge
from washbasin, sinks, bathroom etc. and
are connected to the nearest building
drain/sewer so that foul gases from sewer
do not come to the house.
