Road widening of Madhuram to Vadla

Fatak Road

1
Definition
• As Purpose To Minimize The
Traffic By Providing Extra
Widening On Road.

2
Introduction
• Road Construction Methods have changed a lot
since the first roads were built in about 4000 BC.
• The Romans were one of the first to build stone
paved roads in North Africa and Europe to
support their military operations.
• Later the Arab built roads that were covered
with tar.
• Road construction techniques gradually
improved by the study of road traffic, stone
3
thickness, road alignment, and slope gradients.
• Initial road construction materials were
stones that were laid in a regular, compact
design, and covered with smaller stones to
produce a solid layer.
• The Appian Way in Rome still exists
although it was constructed many years
ago.
• Modern road construction involves the
removal of geographic obstacles, and the
use of new construction materials that are
far more improved and durable.

4
Scope of road widening
• For the future road expansion need becomes high.

• To accommodate more traffic.

• To reduce traffic congestion.

• To reduce amount of accidents.

• For better and fast transportation facilities.

5
Objective of road widening
The Proposed Project is designed to
meet the following objectives:
• Improve traffic safety for motorists
• Reduce traffic congestion and delays
• Accommodate existing and projected future
traffic volumes
• Improve traffic operations of this segment of
Madhuram to Vadla fatak Road.

Literature review
• The project paper name is self explaning roads
literature review & treatment information.
• This paper published in 2010 by name of author
dr. suzy charman, and dr. janet kenneely from
united kingdom.
• This report has been prepared as part of the
SPACE project (Speed Adaptation Control by
Self-Explaining Roads). SPACE is a project funded
by the ERA-NET Roads research programme
‘Safety at the Heart of Road Design’. 7
Conclusions
• It is apparent that the scientific literature
offers relatively little high quality evidence for
individual treatments in terms of impact
upon speed choice.

• Therefore it has been necessary to rely

heavily on expert opinion in order to
complete this section. This highlights the real
need to further study and understand the
effectiveness of different treatments, 8
particularly on appropriate speed choice.
