Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to


(a) read and understand phrases and sentences from linear text
(b) write a safety tip for the places such as home, playground
and school.
(c) draw a suitable i-Think maps about the safety tips and present
orally in the class.

Previous Knowledge : Pupils have read on burglary stories through newspaper


Set Induction (5 minutes)
1. Teacher plays a song entitled ‘Be Safe’ by using the tune of
‘The Happy Wanderer’ to the pupils.
2. Teacher guides the pupils to sing the song by using the
lyrics.
3. Teacher and pupils sing and do some actions together.

Presentation (15 minutes)

1. Teacher shows the pupils a picture


about a burglar broke into the house.
2. Teacher asks the pupils some questions to elicit pupils’ respond.
3. Teacher briefs pupils some safety tips by using power point slides.
4. Teacher explains the meaning of difficult words.
5. Teacher requires the pupils to read aloud the sentences from
power point slides.

Practice (15 minutes)
1. Pupils are given a worksheet individually.
2. Pupils answer the worksheet in eight to ten minutes.
(Enrichment worksheet will be given to the pupils who have
done remedial worksheet)
3. Guidance will be given when necessary.
4. Teacher then discusses the answer with the pupils.

Production (20 minutes)
1. Pupils are divided into two groups and they are required to sit with their
group members.
2. Each group will receive an envelope that contains an A4 paper (‘To Be
Safe’ table), ten safety and unsafety tips.
3. Pupils are required to paste the sentence strips on the correct column in
the ‘To Be Safe’ table.
4. The fastest group with all correct answers considered as the winner.
5. Pupils work in pairs, they are required to draw a suitable i-Think maps for
ten safety tips. (cannot copy from the table)
6. Pupils present their works in front of the classroom.

Closure (5 minutes)
1. Teacher summarises the lessons by asking the pupils to
sing the song ‘Be Safe’ again.
2. Teacher recaps the whole lessons.
3. Teacher asks the pupils whether do they understand what
has been taught.
