Background of the Study

History of the tobacco

• The history of cigarettes is back on 4000 BC (South America)


• Cristopher Columbus found the tobacco plants.

The Effect of Cigarettes Smoking


• Generally it may cause various diseases the smoker and people around them.
• Known as the top disease-maker in the world.
• It is accounts for about 400,000 deaths per year in the USA while 100,000 in the UK
and 5 million around the world
Problem Statement
Objective

The study aims to investigate the factors of student smoking cigarettes among Chemical
Engineering students. Thus, our objective can be listed as below;

● To identify the reason why students take cigarettes as part of their daily life.

● To know when they usually smoke cigarettes.

● To find out the ease of accessibility to smoke cigarettes.

● To find out whether they have intentions to quit smoking or not


Significance of the Study

The findings provided some insights into smoking issues in UiTM

The study that carried out would benefit all party


• Ministry of Higher Education
• Chemical Engineering Faculty
• UiTM university students

1) These findings can help the Ministry department to find ways to overcome smoking
problems among university students

2) Faculty of Chemical Engineering also can take a proactive action such as make a
campaigns on the danger of smoke

3) Help create awareness among UiTM students
