Did you say only 30 min?!
Rereading Books: 5 minutes

Phonics/Word Work: 5 minutes

New Book: 15 minutes

Letter/Word Work: 5 minutes

The 4 E’s of LLI - and why they rock!
#1 Engaging
#2 Efficient
#3 Enables
#4 Enhances
How we would implement it?
1. Familiarize the faculty with the new plan with 3 training sessions (2 intensive
learning and 1 follow up)
2. Assess students to find their instructional and independent reading levels using
BAS
3. Group students based on their levels
4. Begin implementing small group intervention
Everyday, 30 min a day for 14-18 weeks.
5. Take running records every other day and continue
Progress monitoring throughout the 14 weeks.
Not convinced?
In one urban school study,
every grade level made
benchmark gains compared to
the control group that was
receiving reading intervention
but not LLI
