Learning objective(s): Locating the U.S.A. and United Kingdom


Location by using geographic tools that will help identify the
surroundings, the hemisphere and the continent where these
countries are placed.

which led to the division of the one race into many nations with different
languages.

UNITED STATES
The United States of America (USA), commonly
known as the United States (U.S.) or America, is
a federal republic composed of 50 states.
GEOGRAPHY
The United States is a large country with many
kinds of landforms. A large area of plains, called
the Great Plains, stretches across the middle of
our country. Mountains can be different shapes
and sizes. There are many mountain ranges in
U.S.A
Other landforms include valleys and plateaus.
UNITED KINGDOM

The United Kingdom, also called the U.K., consists


of a group of islands off the northwest coast of
Europe. It is a unique country made up of four
nations: England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern
Ireland. England, Wales, and Scotland also make
up Great Britain.
GEOGRAPHY

Much of the north and west of the U.K. is covered in high ground,
knife-edged mountain ridges separated by deep valleys.

In the south of England, the countryside is mostly rolling hills.

In northwest England and the Scottish Highlands are dozens of


lakes, called lochs. They tend to be long and narrow, and some are
very deep.
