Character
An honest person.
A person with a sense of duty and obligation of the position,
whatever it may be.
Character
A person who tells the truth.

A person who gives to others their due.

A person considerate to the weak.

A person who has principles and stands by them.

by bad.
A person who is loyal.

A person who can be trusted.

Character vs Reputation
Character Reputation
Character is knowing who we are. Reputation is what others think of us.
Character is the reality. Reputation is the picture.
Character can be damaged by oneself. Others may damage reputation.
Character is an achievement. Reputation is a bonus.
Character invites trust. Reputation invites admiration.
Character is the interior. Reputation is the exterior.
Character is the substance. Reputation is the image.
Character is constant and reflects core values. Reputation may be manipulated.
Character is your bank balance. Reputation may be overdraft.
Character is seen in the right use of strength. Reputation may reflect strength.
Character is built on values and vision. Reputation may be built by brain and beauty.
Character is strong like a foundation. Reputation is fragile like a glass.
Character is built by what you stand for. Reputation can be made by what others fall for.
Parable of Pencil

"One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow
yourself to be held in Someone's hand."

"Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but
you'll need it to become a better pencil.“

"Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make."

"Four: The most important part of you will always be what's inside."

Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No
matter what the condition, you must continue to write.”
Now replace the pencil with yourself
One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow
yourself to be held in God's hand. And allow other human beings to
access you for the many gifts you possess.
Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by
going through various problems, but you'll need it to become a
stronger person.

Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.

Four: The most important part of you will always be what's on the
inside (Character)

Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No
matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.

Let us proceed with our life, having a meaningful purpose in our heart

Duties
Utilitarian Theory
• Jeremy Bentham – founder of the theory
• Works on the principle of utility or benefit of an action, to
optimize benefits to all constituents of society
• Any action or policy should be evaluated on basis of
benefits and cost it will impose on society
• Plans, programmes and actions of any organization should
be chosen to produce greatest net benefits to all the
stakeholders and people at large, including society
• Expand the scope of ethics and safeguard society, so that it
does not suffer due to partial analysis of cost and benefit.
Theory of Rights & Duties

• Deals with power of an individual to choose, pursue and protect his

interests
• Such rights are associated with correlated duties
• These rights arise from legal provisions or social provision, they
become moral rights
• If a company prohibits or denies such rights, it is said to be unfair to
its employees
• Any bias, unfairness or extra influential behavior would be seen as
unethical
• Moral theories also offer employees the right to refuse a job, if it
does not to moral standards of professional ethics.
Theory of Justice

•Revolves around fundamental

principles to guarantee a just and
morally acceptable decision
•Actions should be guided by fairness
•Ensures equity and impartiality
Ethics of Care

•Necessity of showing extra care and consideration

•Protect someone else from adverse effect of one’s choice
•Necessitates contextual details of situation, to safeguard
and promote specific interests
•Takes care of moral and legal interests
