 Duties-things we have to do legally,
 Responsibilities- things we should do and
is voluntary

 It benefits other people and is satisfying
personally because you can make a
difference in someone’s life.
What are the requirements to be able to
vote in an election?

 Registered to vote,
 18 years old,
 must be a U.S. citizen and live in the
voting district in which they vote.
 People who are imprisoned or on
probation for committing a felony are
not allowed to vote

What is the Electoral College?
 The method that we elect president by-
electors are chosen by each state and
whichever candidate gets the most votes,
electors cast their vote for that state’s
winning candidate.

to be able to run for U.S.
President?
 Must be a U.S, citizen born in the U.S.
 Must be at least 35 years old
 Must have lived in the U.S. for at least
14 years

general elections different?
 Primaries-usually held in the spring.
Nominees who want to become their
party’s candidate for a office is voted
on by people of the same party. This is
when the voter has to declare what
party they want to vote for
 General-a voter does not have to
declare their party and can vote for
whichever candidate they choose.

 A group of citizens organized to elect
candidates to public office that are based
on political views
