The Level of Preparedness of

Maryhill College for

Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood
Education (BTLEd):
Basis for a Three-year Development
Program.
INTRODUCTION
• It specifies the core competencies expected of Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood
Education (BTLEd) graduates regardless of the type of HEIs they graduate from. However,
in recognition of the spirit of outcomes- based education and of the typology of HEIs, this
PSG also provides ample space for HEIs to innovate the curriculum in line with the
assessment of how best to achieve learning outcomes in their particular contexts and their
respective missions.
• The bachelor of technology and livelihood education (BTLEd) is an undergraduate teacher
education program that equips learners with adequate and relevant competencies in the
area of technology and livelihood education, particularly for the TLE exploratory courses
for grades 4 to 8.
• This program discussed herein shall be called bachelor of technology and livelihood
education (BTLED), which majors are home economics, industrial arts,
information and communication technology and agri- fishery arts (CHED, 2017).
• The researchers find it necessary and can be a great contribution to forbid the
students, faculty, and the administration of Maryhill college to be well aware about
the school’s level of preparedness for bachelor of technology and livelihood
education (BTLEd) program for them to contribute for the improvement of the
quality of education. The researchers also look into the possibility and its feasibility
in reopening the Maryhill College branch at ciudad maharlika, which further aims
to produce students in the field of technology and livelihood education in their area
of specialization.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

•The main inquiry of the study was to know the level of

preparedness of maryhill college for bachelor of technology
and livelihood education (BTLEd) program. Specifically, it
sought answers to the following questions:
1. What is the TVL aptitude profile of the
Grade 10 students during S.Y. 2018-2019
based on their 2017 NCAE result?
2. What is the preferred specialization of the grade 10
students at Maryhill College in taking up bachelor of
technology and livelihood education (BTLEd) in terms of:
2.1 Home economics
2.2 Industrial arts
2.3 Information and communication technology
2.4 Agri-fishery arts
3. What is the level of preparedness of Maryhill college in opening
the BTLEd as perceived by the TLE teachers in terms of:
3.1 Teacher’s trainings and qualification
3.2 Learning materials
3.3 Facilities
3.3.1 Classroom
3.3.2 Libraries
3.3.3 Laboratories
4. Based on the findings, what 3-year
development program could be propose to
increase the level of preparedness of Maryhill
College in BTLEd?

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
SCOPE AND LIMITATION
• This research entitled the level of preparedness of Maryhill college for bachelor in
technology and livelihood education (BTLEd) program is limited only to the 2017
NCAE results of grade 10 students at Maryhill college during SY 2017-2018 and
to the preferred specialization of the grade 10 students at Maryhill college in taking
up bachelor of technology and livelihood education (BTLEd).
• Moreover,the scope of the study is determining the level of preparedness of
Maryhill college in bachelor of technology and livelihood education (BTLEd)
program.
SYNTHESIS
• The given literature, gives the essence of having TLE that would impart to the learners the
knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and experiences that they can use in a real situation that
would pursue the implementation of BTLEd.
• The studies presented in this chapter justify the strength of implementing the bachelor of
technology and livelihood education program used to determine the level of attainment of the
desired learning competencies of the college TLE students along knowledge, skills, and attitude
(Valera 2015). Even secondary level also they will learn how to innovative with currents
technology so that they can find solutions to problems they may face I everyday life (Jaymil
Bautista, 2017). Basic education curriculum has gained a favorable attitude on the part of the
teacher because they believe it can improve the quality of education.
DESCRIPTIVE RESEARCH
GRADE 10 STUDENTS
TLE TEACHERS, AT MARYHILL COLLEGE.
• Maryhill College
The researchers first asked permission to the Librarian of Maryhill college
who is Miss Kristine A. Taguiam , wherein it is where the study is conducted.
Upon approval of the request, validation of the questionnaire was solicited
to the prospective validators who are the program head of the college of
Teacher Education and Thesis Coordinator. After instrument validation,
the researchers distributed the questionnaire that contains the objectives of the
study to the purposively selected respondents. Afterwards, the data was tabulated
and the results were presented and analyzed with proper statistical treatment.
In order to identify the level of preparedness of Maryhill College for Bachelor of Technology and
Livelihood Education (BTLEd) curriculum, the researchers formulated 2 sets of a
researchers-made checklist questionnaires for the selected Grade 10 Students, and TLE teachers.
The first set of questionnaire for students-respondents will contains the TVL aptitude profile based
on their 2017 NCAE result and their preferred specialization in taking up BTLEd. While the second
set of questionnaire for teacher-respondents will contain the level of preparedness of Maryhill College
in opening of BTLEd in terms of Teachers training and qualification, learning materials and facilities
which will be answered in a likert scale of 1 – 4.
Whereas 4 is to prepared to great extent, 3- prepared to a moderate extent,
2 - prepared to at least extent, and 1 - not prepared.
To determine the TVL aptitude profile of the grade 10 students during
SY 2018-2019 based on their 2017 NCAE result and their preferred
specialization in taking up bachelor of technology and livelihood
education, the percentage will be use. The formula is shown below:
𝑓
P= 𝑛
x 100

Where:
P = Percentage
F = Frequency
N = Total population
To determine the level of preparedness of maryhill college in
opening bachelor of technology and livelihood education
(BTLEd), the weighted mean will be use. The formula is
shown.

WAM = Σfw
n

Where:
WAM = Weighted Arithmetic Mean
F = frequency
N = total number of respondents
