B. Alto Instruments
Alto Saxophone
• By Adolfe Sax in 1841.
• A member of the saxophone family.
• Smaller than the tenor but larger than
the soprano
• Mostly used in classical compositions.
French Horn
• A brass instrument made of 12-13
feet ( 3.7-4.0 m ) of tubing
wrapped into a coil with a flared
bell.
English Horn ( cor anglai s)

• Double red woodwind instrument in the oboe family.


Viola
• Bowed string instrument

• The middle voice of the violin family

• Between violin and cello


Tenor Instruments
Trombone
• From the brass family

• Sound is produced when the players vibrating lips cause the air column inside the
instrument to vibrate.
Tenor Saxophone
• Medium sized member of the saxophone
family
Guitar
• Played with fingers or a pick

• A plucked string instrument


D. Baritone Instrument
Basson

• A woodwind instrument in the double reed


family . Plays music written in the bass and
tenor registers and occasionally higher.
Baritone Saxophone

• Largest member of the saxophone


family . The lowest-pitched saxophone
in common use.
Bass Clarinet
• Regularly perform in symphony
orchestras, wind ensembles, occasionally
in marching bands and play an occasional
solo role in contemporary music and jazz
in particular
Cello
• A member of the violin family together
with violin, viola, and double bass
• Bowed string instrument .
Baritone Horn
Member of the brass instrument family.
Has a predominantly cylindrical bore as do the
trumpet and trombone and uses a large
mouthpiece like euphonium and trombone,
though a bit smaller.
E. Bass Instrument
Double Bass
• The largest and the lowest-pitched
bowed string instrument in the
modern symphony orchestra.
Bass Guitar

• Stringed instrument. Played primarily with fingers or thumb, by plucking slapping


popping tapping thumping picking
Bass Saxophone
• Largest member of the saxophone family
Tuba
• The largest and lowest pitched brass
instrument.
• Sound is produced by vibrating or
buzzing the lips into a large cupped
mouthpiece.
