• Conquering the third dimension has always been the epitome of inventions
such as rotorcrafts, helicopters, etc... And understanding its rotor system
which is the heart of such rotorcrafts have been in the radar for quite some
time to reduce the dangers of lift, and damage on rotor.
• Last but not the least we would like to thank our respective parents and
friends for their help and guidance

INTRODUCTION
• In the continuous system of beam under study
is observed at resonance having known the
natural frequencies of the model using ANSYS
Workbench18.1
• Resonance is a phenomenon in which an
external force drives another system to
oscillate with greater amplitude at specific
frequency
FLAPPING BEAM
• The next analysis carried out by us after
resonance is flapping, it is one of the dynamic
characteristics of the beam under study
subjected to base excitation

Experimental study

• The following dimensions were recorded by us at the vibrations lab.

• Length of the beam= 5.1 Cms.
• Diameter of the beam 1Cm.
• Distance of one beam from the hub of the system=1.7 Cms.
• Material of the beam=Brass
• Type of joint: pinned joint
• Frequency range=0-1000Hz
• Rotational velocity=0-1200 RPM
• These dimensions were use by us to complete the structural model using
CATIA with some other additional details such as the H section

CONCLUSION

• The natural frequencies obtained from modal analysis using ANSYS

workbench helped to determine the resonant frequency at which the beam
has highest amplitude by which we can determine what is the safety
frequency limit for the model.
• The frequency response curve and harmonic studies shows that flapping
occurs with almost periodically increasing and decreasing amplitudes for a
frequency range of 0-800 Hz which completes the study of one of the
dynamic characteristics of the model which causes dynamic instability to
the beam(model).
