Why Use a Rotameter (Variable Area
Meter) to Measure Flow ??
1.No external power required
2.You can see the process
3.Rotameters are cost effective
4.Simple to install and maintain
5.Low pressure drop
6.Repeatability

These six features assure rotameters will continue to be important

products to measure flow now and in the future!!
How does it work??
How to calibrate??

2500 Series Acrylic Tube
Variable Area Flow
Meters
Precision-machined
acrylic.
Economical liquid or gas
measurement.
Models 2510 / 2520 / 2530
/ 2540S or V / 2540I
KEY APPLICATIONS
•Basic liquid (including water) or gas flow
measurement
•Rotating equipment flow measurement
•Process analyzers
•High-pressure flow on offshore oil platforms
•Chemical injection
•Purge liquid or gas metering
Disadvantages
In other words
Existing flow meter technologies such as positive displacement
(PD), turbine, variable area (VA or Rotameter) and differential
pressure (DP) - once the best-fit or only solution for some
applications - are no longer the only choice. Today, modern flow
technologies such as vortex, ultrasonic and Coriolis offer a much
more reliable alternative, especially when a plant's process needs
improvement.

•Intrinsic safe
•Cost savings in respect of cabling work
•Superior performance and less maintenance
•Direct mass flow measurement
