 Grande City Hospital (P) Ltd is a 24 beds world class health care facility at Jyoti Bhawan, Kantipath -right in
the heart of the Kathmandu city.
 Vision: To be the best equipped diagnostic and treatment healthcare facility in Nepal.
 Mission: To provide world- class healthcare at affordable prices.

 To be familiar with the practical implementation of Management Information


System (MIS)
 To know how the Information system is applied in the organization
 To know the use and benefits of MIS to carry out the activities of the
organization
 To know about the challenges that the organization might face during the
implementation of MIS

MIS in Grande City Hospital
 Patient information system is the computer-based patient record that resides in a system specifically
designed to support users.
 Main purpose is to digitize the paper based recording system
 Developed by Sukra Software Solution, Indian based software development company
 It is implemented to manage the whole activities of the hospital
 Involves from managing the appointments, recording and maintain patient records to the management of
the inventories and other activities of the hospital
 Designed to support users by providing the accessibility to complete and accurate data, alerts, reminder,
clinical decision support

Applications
Front End Application
 a. Patient database:
i. Handling the queries on the existing patients and the patients treated and discharged.
ii. Queries can also come from the visitor, a doctor or other employees of the hospital.

 b. Medical server database:


i. Name, address, telephones etc. of all medical staff.
ii. Hospitals, work times and the locations on the week days for the contact.
iii. Service centers like the laboratories, the blood banks, the especial clinics etc. in the town for providing the support services.

 c. Resource planning and control:


i. An online query facility for answering the number of queries on the availability, scheduling and re – scheduling of the resources and the facilities.
ii. For judging the usage of the facilities and to put them in the proper use.

 d. Medical case history database:


i. Knowledge database on the case history for the guidance and the research.
ii. Monitoring the effect of the drugs to judge the efficacy in terms of the patient’s response.
iii. Analyze the health care demand.

The Back End applications includes:
 a. Core applications:
i. Manpower and personnel planning.
ii. Payroll and employee related applications.
iii. Hospital billing and the recovery.
iv. An inventory control procurement, the planning and the control.
v. The expiry date management.
vi. Resource utilization and the analysis.
vii. Financial accounting.
viii. Capital budgeting and the expense control.
ix. Maintenance of the service facilities.

 b. Critical control application: It refers to evolving the core standards for control and provide exception reports to the management
for forwarding planning and monitoring. It includes the following activities:

 • Patients were waiting time and service cycle.


• Non-use of critical resources.
• Stock-outs of the dangerous drugs and the time is taken to restore supply.
• The number of patients admitted, treated and cured. The length of the stay, cost, and revenue to the hospital.
• New trends in service demands and service performance in such cases.

Conclusion

 Helped to eliminate the weaknesses of the paper-based record system or file system
 Major gain of using the information system is standardization of process, ease and agility in the recovery
of the information, easier and faster documentation
 Use of information system in the activities of the organization increase the quality and maintenance of
the record of the patients
 Certain challenges such as maintenance, security, cost etc may be seen
 Although some problems may be identified during the process of using the electronic record system, the
benefits outweigh the difficulty, thereby justifying the system use.
