ELECTRICITY

SCIENCE
LEARNING OBJECTIVE I
BOSTON INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
THIRD TERM , 2018
Objective

• To understand what energy is making a

difference between its shapes and sources to
identify the different ways that it can be used.

• Learning Objective: Describing how electricity

works explaining its kinds and devices that
influences in it and how it can be produced by
different kinds of energy transformations.
BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE

Jesus is the light of the world

John 8:12

• 12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he

said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever
follows me will never walk in darkness, but
will have the light of life.”
BOSTON INTERNATIONAL CLASS
RULES
 Remember that we do it all for the Lord:
 Colossians 3:17
 New King James Version (NKJV)
 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name
of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through
Him
 Whole brain teaching
 Rule 1: Listen when your teacher is talking
 Rule 2: Follow directions quickly
 Rule 3: Respect others. Respect yourself. Respect your
school
 Rule 4: Raise your hand to speak or stand
 Rule 5: Be safe, Be kind, Be honest for the glory of God
BOSTON INTERNATIONAL CLASS
RULES

 Rule 6: Use English at all times, it is the only way to

improve.
 Rule 7: Do not translate what your teacher says, please.
 Rule 8: Take risks and learn from your mistakes.
 MENDING ORIENTED ACTIONS
 If the students take the motivation to misbehave he/she will
less from 1 to ten points of his/her participation mark.
 If the students distract others he/she has to talk in front of
the class and apologize.
 If the students frequently have a bad behavior will be
notified in the folder of behavior.
Project

 STATIC ELECTRICITY Students will use an

balloon, a sock, a hair comb and little pieces of
papers. After this, they will describe the way in
which static electricity happened comparing it
with how the Holy Spirit produces energy or
electricity in their lives.
 Due date: August 17th, 2018.
Electricity is the energy caused by the
flow of electrons.
Charge and Static Electricity

Static Electricity : A
BUILD UP OF CHARGE
(electrons) on an object!
Rubbing hair
with balloon

1. Friction: build up of charge by rubbing one object

against another.

Static electricity by friction

and conduction
Conduction: build up of charge by direct
contact between 2 objects
Current electricity

 Current is a flow of electric charges. It is not a build up of charge that is

discharged.

 All current electricity needs a circuit (a close pathway for electric charges
to flow).

 All circuits must have at least 3 parts :

1) wires, 2) a source 3) a load(s).
Parts of a circuit

wires Source of electricity

Load
Conductors
Conductor: a material that easily allows the flow
of electric charges.
It gives very little resistance to the flow of charge. (
metals – copper, aluminum , etc)
Insulators
Insulators: do not easily allow for the flow of
electric charges through them.
Ex: glass, plastic, certain rubber materials, cloth.
Types of circuits

main types of circuits

 1. Series Circuit: only 1 path for the electric

charges to flow
 2. Parallel Circuit: has More than one path for the
electric charges to flow.
Series circuit
Parallel Circuit: has more
than 1 path for electric
charges to flow, so if 1 load
goes “out,” the other loads
will still work !
Draw a parallel circuit
SWITCHES
A switch is a device that opens or closes a circuit.
When you switch on a lamp, you close the circuit.
When you switch off a lamp, you open the circuit.
