• India has several socio-economic problems.

with wide income disparities
Regional imbalance
• Regional imbalance means that some areas
are economically advanced and some areas
are backward in India. India is the world’s
second largest populous country and seventh
largest in terms of the area.
• During the British rule, most of the
manufacturing and trading activities were
undertaken in Maharashtra and West Bengal.
