High-rise buildings, bridges, subway stations, stunning airports, highways and
hydroelectric dams are some of the interesting hallmarks of human civilization and
urbanization. Civil engineering teaches us how to construct infrastructure and
create an environment which will be conducive for living in the modern era.

Thus, if you have an idea that can help to

make this world a better place to live, then a
career in civil engineering can be a possible
choice for you.

It is an all India entrance Examination conducted jointly by IISc and seven
IITs, every year in the month of January/February.

The GATE examination centres are spread in different

cities across India, as well as, at six cities abroad. It would purely be a
Computer Based Test (CBT).
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the prestigious
competitive examinations in India. GATE is an all-India examination conducted
by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology
(IIT) on behalf of the National Coordination Board GATE, Department of Higher
Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Pattern of Questions
GATE would contain questions of two different types in all the papers:

(i) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)

(ii) Numerical Answer Type (NAT)
Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) carrying 1 or 2 marks each in all the papers and
sections.
In all the papers, there will be a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks, out of
which 10 questions carrying a total of 15 marks will be on General Aptitude (GA),
which is intended to test the Language and Analytical Skills.

Negative Marking for Wrong Answers: For a wrong answer chosen in a MCQ, there
will be negative marking. For 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong
answer. Likewise, for 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
Numerical Answer Type (NAT) QuestionsQuestions carrying 1 or 2
marks each in all the papers and sections. For these questions, the
answer is a signed real number, which needs to be entered by the
candidate using the virtual numeric keypad on the monitor
(keyboard of the computer will be disabled).
No choices will be shown for these type of questions. The answer
can be a number such as 10 or -10 (an integer only). The answer
may be in decimals as well, for example, 10.1 (one decimal) or
10.01 (two decimals) or -10.001 (three decimals).

There is NO negative marking for a wrong answer in NAT questions

 why GATE Exam is important?

 What are the benefits of qualifying GATE Exam?

 What are the career options after clearing the

GATE with good score?
The purpose of the GATE 2017 exam is to test the students knowledge
and understanding of their under Graduate level subjects in Engineering
and Science. The GATE score reflects the relative performance level of a
candidate.
Every year lakhs of Engineering graduate students are coming from
universities and engineering colleges. In the present competitive
scenario, to measure and test the calibre of engineering students is
possible through the GATE exam only.
There is a misconception among students is that the GATE exam is
only for ME. /M. Tech which finally leads to a teaching career only.

But, it is not correct. The GATE score of the candidate is also used by
several public sector undertakings(PSU) (i.e., government-owned
companies) for recruiting graduate engineers in entry-level positions,
to get Fellowship Programs from CSIR and Scholarships in
ME/M.Tech and many more.
Qualifying in GATE is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and /
or financial assistance to:

(i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in

Engineering/Technology

(ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions

supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies.
Yes, more than 100 Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the
GATE score in their recruitment process.

Manipur State Govt Job starting Slary is just 1.5-4 lakhs Per Annum
