Sejarah • Dr. Thomas Hodgkin (1798-1866), seorang dokter dari Guy’s Hospital di London. Pada tahun 1832, Hodgkin menulis paper berjudul “On The Morbid Appearances of The Royal Medical and Surgical Society of London”, pada tulisannya Hodgkin menuliskan tipe limfoma yang sekarang dikenal sesuai dengan namanya, Hodgkin Lymphoma.4 Embriology Sistem Limfatik • Sistem limfatik berkembang setelah munculnya sistem cardiovaskuler yang akan terbentuk setelah minggu ke-5 kehamilan. Awal perkembangan pembuluh limfe tidak begitu jelas , diduga berasal dari mesenkim in situ atau muncul seperti kantung yang keluar dari endotelium pembuluh darah. Enam lymph sacs primer yang terbentuk yaitu: 2 jugular (hubungan subclavia dan v.cardinal anterior), 2 iliaca (hubungan iliac dan v.cardinal posterior), 1 reroperitoneal (dekat dengan percabangan a.mesenterica) dan 1 cisterna chyli (dorsal dari retroperitoneal sac). Kemudian muncul pembuluh limfe yang akan membentuk anastomose dan menghubungkan draninase dari seluruh tubuh. Anatomi 1. Organ Limfoid Primer a. Bone marrow b. Thymus

Tersebar pada beberapa tempat antara lain : - Gastrointestinal tract - Respiratory tract - Genitourinaria tract Anatomi • limfe node pada manusia, tersebar sepanjang pembuluh limfe. Berbentuk seperti ginjal dengan panjang 1 inch (2,5 cm), walaupun kadang dapat berubah-ubah, terbungkus oleh capsule dengan jaringan fibrous dan terdapat pembuluh limfe yang keluar masuk seperti arteri dan vena. Fisiologi • Menghancurkan benda asing dari pembuluh darah dan pembuluh limfe • Mencegah munculnya penyakit (fungsi imunitas) • Mempertahankan keseimbangan cairan dalam tubuh • Mengabsorbsi lemak dari sistem pencernaan Definisi • Limfoma adalah kelompok heterogen dari suatu keganasan jaringan limfoid, yaitu berasal dari sel B dan sebagian kecil dari sel T. • Limfoma maligna terbagi menjadi dua kelompok besar yaitu Limfoma Hodgkin (HL) dan Limfoma Non Hodgkin (NHL) • Limfoma Hodgkin (HL) merupakan keganasan dari sel B yang ditandai oleh “reed-sternberg cell” • Limfoma Non Hodgkin (NHL) merupakan keganasan dari sel B dan sel T. Etiologi • Infeksi virus dan bakteri (Epstein Barr Virus, Helicobacter Pylori dan Human T-cell Leukemia Virus) • Gangguan kongenital (translokasi kromosom) • Immunosuppresive (AIDS) • Akibat penggunaan obat-obatan (phenytoin) dan radiasi • Autoimune disease (Sjorgen Syndrome dan Rheumatoid Artritis).
