v The primary roadblocks to the credibility and

global success of the Ayurveda are lack of
product standardization, quality control and
absence of documental evidence for clinical
efficacy. Success in clinical development is key

A. -ield Experiments of Organic -arming
Technology by the use of Wormi
Compost and NADEP Manure:

In nature there is a system of maintaining biological balance in soil, air and water. The
human intervention has damaged this balance due to short-run gains. This is a great
threat towards the sustainability of agricultural production to meet the food and
nutritional requirements of growing population. Over the past four decades, the use of
chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, weedicides, excessive soil erosion etc.
have adversely affected the soil fertility, productivity and quality of produce. Growing
awareness of people about environmental degradation, has led the scientists, policy
planners and executives to take corrective steps in order to improve the quality
farming. The department has developed Divya wormi compost and Divya NADEP to
the farmers for scientific and safe cultivations.

v Both yoga and physical training groups showed comparable

improvement in leg and back strength, though the yoga group showed
better spinal flexibility. The yoga group showed an increase in lean
muscle mass while the physical training group showed an increase in
body fat. This re-distribution in body composition is of great importance
to this group. The yoga group showed no decrease in level of arousal
(or alertness) but showed a consistent decrease in blood pressure
suggesting maintained arousal was not associated with mental stress.
Hence yoga was a state of µalertful rest¶, especially important in this
group. The physical training group showed a decrease in
arousal/alertness. The yoga group showed an improvement in skilled
activities requiring co-ordination, concentration, as well as muscular
strength and endurance. This would be especially useful for activities
such as shooting at a target.

v In order to establish Yoga as a science, especially medical science

we need the contribution of a sage, who is not only an accomplished
yogi but also understands the process of testing and proving the
concepts of Yoga using modern scientific methods and standards.
One such person is Swami Ramdevji who has studied modern
medical science in depth along with Yoga and has proved that Yoga
practices meet modern medical standards with courage and
confidence he has invited international scientists to work together and
with him to evaluate and prove the scientific basis of Yoga. Selecting
a few asanas from the vast repertoire of Yoga, which could be used
by all for preventing diseases, and controlling recurrence of diseases,
and at the same time providing benefits like awakening talents,
generating positive, creative, qualitative and productive qualities, etc.
´ Effect of yoga and pranayama on bone
mineral density- An open level clinical study

v The data of bone mineral density test collected before and after Yoga practice
was analyzed statistically. The results were drawn with the theory of sign of
nope-parametric test and efficiency level and confidence level of patients is
being presented here in tabular form.
v The efficiency and confidence level in (men) osteoporosis patients was 4.4
and 99.7A per cent respectively. The figures in case of women of the same
disease were 4.0Î7 and 99.7A per cent respectively. In the same way patients
of osteopenia (men) showed efficiency and confidence level of 4.67 and 99.7A
per cent, whereas the women showed of A.66 and 99.7A per cent, respectively.
v This research makes it clear that the T-score of bone mineral density shows
considerable improvement along with increasing the strength of bone after 40
days of Yoga practice.

â. Immediate Effect of a Yoga Practice Session
on State Anxiety in Scientists from Different
Asian Countries

v The present study intended: (i) to assess the state anxiety

immediately before and after a yoga session in scientists who were
attending an international seminar on an unrelated subject (i.e., in
hydrology at IIT Roorkee), and (ii) to compare the results in scientists
from different Asian countries, such as India, Nepal, Bangladesh,
Pakistan, and China There was a group significant decrease in state
anxiety (p<.00Î, paired t-test; n = ). This has been shown as a
graph below. Also irrespective of the country from which they came,
the scientists showed a decrease in state anxiety after yoga.

v The present survey clearly indicates that Yoga rejuvenates the

personality, it acts like life-saving medicine, helps in overall
development, guides on the path of accomplishment, fulfilling
duties, achieving economic progress, fulfilling the
responsibilities of household life and gaining liberation. Yoga is
a holistic science and fully capable of giving desired results. It
improves physical health, mental development, intellectual
power, internal progress, and spiritual strength. It is not just an
expression, but also an experience of life, as shared by
thousands of participants. The scientists and medical
practitioners are taken aback with the miraculous results of
Yoga and Pranayama.
Ë A novel method and scheme for
Standardization of Divya Madhunasni: A
Herbal Medicine

v The Divya Madhunasini is a polyherbal drug constitute of a complex mixture of

different herbal & mineral substances. We have undertaken a task to develop a
novel scheme for sensitive, specific & accurate standardization the Divya
Madhunasini. The present method will provide the sensitive, specific & accurate
scheme for standardization of other polyherbal drugs for their consistency,
potency and efficacy in future. Packet of Î0 tablets of Madhunasini 500 mg
has been taken the batch No.DPO-Î Exp. 9/009. The Madhunasini is a
mixture of A Poly herbal Material. We have categorized all A herbomineral
material into the four classes categorizes. i.e. alkaloids contents, glycosides
contents, bitter contents & tannins contents. The each categorizes extract of
Madhunasini exhibits the characteristic spot at differed Rfs. The result indicates
that for the Standardization of Polyherbal preparation the extraction of complex
mixture of drug with various solvents is necessary for the detection,
characterization & identification of active chemical and therapeutic ingredients.
Whereas material extracted with one solvent was not exhibit any clear Rf
values and always appear in the form of tail.
Î In-vivo toxicological study of
Drishti eye drop
v 0.Î Ml of the Drishti eye drop was administered as such to the
eyes and its associated mucus membranes in the albino rabbits
thrice in a day (Dose: 0.A ml).The animals were examined after
Î, 4, 4> and 7 hours and thereafter daily for Î days for any
irritation in eye on following criteria¶s Retinal Reflex, Papillary
Reflex, Adnexa ±Lids, Iris, Aqueous humour, Lens, Vitreous
humour, Retina, Optic Disc, Tapedum Lucidum, Tapedum
Nigrum. The results of the present study suggest that Drishti
eye drop is ³Non Irritant´ to the eye and its associated mucus
membranes at the dose of 0.A ml. The present study is
obtained information on health hazards likely to arise from a
short term exposure .The study has been conducted as per
³Drug and Cosmetics Rules 005 Ref OECD GUDLINES No.

ÎÎ In-vivo toxicological study on plant
  found non toxic after the
detoxification done by ayurvedic methods

v extract is safe and could be used

therapeutically .The extract of the plant were given intervening
with adjuvant for Î, , 7,>,Î4 & A0 days in equal doses. We
found the best response at the dose of 0.Î mg /Î00gm of body
weight in rabbits.
v Our result shows that controlled amount of detoxified seeds
extract of exhibits no significant effect
in the level of Total Serum proteins, SGOT and Alkaline
Phosphate in the rabbit model. Our result suggests that this
plant is not merely a source of laxative oil; its active
constituents exhibit the highly potential anticancer property
without toxic effects.
