Petronet LNG Limited
• Petronet LNG Limited, incorporated on April 2, 1998, is one of the fastest
growing company in the Indian energy sector, has set up the country's first
LNG receiving and regasification terminal at Dahej, Gujarat, and another
terminal at Kochi, Kerala.

• It was created as a Joint Venture by the Government of India to import

LNG and set up LNG terminals in the country.

• With the commencement of its commercial operations from April, 2004.

PLL’s equity share comprises:
- 50% held by Oil & Gas PSUs (ONGC, IOC, BPCL & GAIL )
- 50% held by Public and Financial Institutions

Petronet LNG Limited
Mission
 Create and manage world class LNG infrastructure

 Pursue synergistic business growth opportunities

 Continue excellence in LNG business

 Maximize value creation for the stakeholders

 Maintain highest standards of business ethics and values.

Vision
 To be a key energy provider to the nation by leveraging Company’s unique
position in the LNG value chain along with an international presence.

4
Liquified Natural Gas (LNG)
 Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas (predominantly methane, CH4, with
some mixture of ethane C2H6) that has been converted to liquid form for ease and
safety of non-pressurized storage or transport.
 It takes up about 1/600th the volume of natural gas in the gaseous state (at standard
conditions for temperature and pressure). It is odorless, colorless, non-toxic and
non-corrosive.
 The liquefaction process involves removal of certain components, such as dust,
acid gases, helium, water, and heavy hydrocarbons, which could cause difficulty
downstream. The natural gas is then condensed into a liquid at close to atmospheric
pressure by cooling it to approximately −162 °C (−260 °F); maximum transport
pressure is set at around 25 kPa (4 psi).
 Natural gas is mainly converted into LNG to achieve the natural gas transport over
the seas where laying pipelines is not feasible technically and economically.

5
PLL’s LNG Capacity
 PLL’s Terminal at Dahej has a nominal capacity of 15 MMTPA (equivalent to 54
MMSCMD of natural gas), and currently being expanded to 17 MMTPA by 2019,
whereas the Kochi Terminal has a capacity of 5 MMTPA (equivalent to 18
MMSCMD of natural gas.)

 PLL is importing 7.5 MMTPA of LNG from RasGas, Qatar under a 25 year long-
term Sale and Purchase Agreement (LNG SPA). The supply under the LNG SPA
started in the year 2004. In December 2015 Petronet LNG Ltd. Signed another LNG
Sale and Purchase for 1.0 MMTPA with RasGas , Qatar on CFR basis for 12 years.

 PLL is also importing 1.44 MMTPA LNG from ExxonMobil, Gorgon LNG
Terminal in Australia.
6
Upcoming RLNG Terminals in South Asian Region

 With new RLNG capacities coming up SE Asia, PLL can

Leverage its best in class operations to provide training for new
workforce
 With the commissioning of new terminals in the south Asia
region, approx. 1336 new personnel would join the LNG industry
 These numbers provide a mammoth opportunity for collaboration
and cooperation in sharing the accumulated Knowledge in the
industry
 Petronet being endowed with a very unique set of technology
know how, we must endeavor towards capturing, modelling our
current data streams to develop a Knowledge Repository for
dissemination of knowledge and skills both internally and
externally

Contd…

 In 2016, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Ministry

of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) to scale up skill development initiatives in the Hydrocarbon and allied
sectors.

 With the vast potential and requirement of an LNG academy that would train the
working professionals (within India and Abroad) and also to catering the future
demand of the trained professionals in the LNG sector, Petronet LNG Limited
started the LNG Academy, situated in Kochi, Kerala.
10
PLL’s LNG Academy (LNGA)
• The LNG sector has tremendous potential for employment generation, and hence it is
vital to develop a skilled workforce to meet both current and future needs
• Petronet LNG Academy hence created, aims to provide the platform for the development of
the entry level and lateral entry professionals for the LNG industry. It provides the world
class learning experience at affordable cost.
• As the LNG industry in India is still growing with its wings spread. The demand for RLNG
in India is forecasted to increase at a CAGR of 21.6% during 2016-2025, due to increasing
LNG terminal projects and cost-effectiveness of the fuel compared to other alternative
fuels.
• This academy helps to provide and understand the nuances of contracting, pricing and
negotiation strategies at par with international Oil & Gas industry practices to existing
management professional across the industry.
12
PLL’s LNG Academy (LNGA)

• It plans on getting equipped with Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality

(AR/VR) Technology, which will enables the prospective candidates in
learning and gaining the experience in a practical manner.
• It plans to have a Faculty Exchange program for the better learning
experience and industry immersion interface.
• It is planned to work efficiently with the updated technology and various
interactive programs that will thereby provide the holistic learning
environment to the candidates and the better future prospect for the whole
natural gas industry.

13
PLL’s LNG Academy (LNGA)
 Key Areas covered through LNGA are:
• In-class Training
• On job Training
• E-Learning
• Upcoming Technology (Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality)

15
PLL’s LNG Academy (LNGA)
 LNGA, focuses on each and every area of LNG sector with its well designed Training
Course Modules.
 In collaboration with Delottie Inc. a total of 12 Course Modules are designed for the
year 2018. And there are 7 proposed Course Modules framed for the future training
programs.
 Upon framing the Course structure the major heads comprises of:
