WHAT IS WILD LIFE:
wild life not only includes animal species but also
includes plants , flowers , fruits , fungal and bacterial
species.
wild life is divided into flora and fauna.
where flora is this plant species , bacterial species etc.
fauna is this animal species and bird species etc.
hence both flora and fauna together is known as
wildlife.
however nowadays wildlife faces many dangers.

MAJOR THREATS TO WILD LIFE:

CLIMATIC CHANGES:
Global warming is making hot days hotter, rainfall and flooding heavier, hurricanes
stronger and droughts more severe . Climatic extremes are the visible impacts of
GLOBAL WARMING. This causes stress to wild life and its habitat. Climate change may
cause disastrous loss to wildlife . Hibernating species gets disturbed. Natural
phenomena like flood, earth quake, forest fire, affects wildlife.

UNREGULATED HUNTING AND POACHING:

Unregulated hunting and poaching causes a major threat to wildlife. Along with this,
mismanagement of forest department and forest guards triggers this problem.

OVER EXPLOITATION:
Over exploitation is the over use of wildlife and plant species by people for food,
clothing, pets, medicine, sport and many other purposes. The danger is that if too many
individuals of a species are taken from their natural environment, they may no longer
be able to survive. The loss of one species can affect many other species in an ecosystem.
The passenger pigeon was hunted to extinction, early in the last century, and over-
hunting nearly caused the extinction of the American bison and several species of
whales.
DEFORESTATION:
 Humans are continually expanding and developing, leading to an invasion of
wildlife habitats.
 As humans continue to grow, they clear forested land to create more space.
 This stresses wildlife populations as there are fewer homes and food sources
for wildlife to survive .
POPULATION:
 The increasing population of human beings is the major threat to wildlife.
 More people on the globe means more consumption of food, water and fuel,
therefore more waste is generated.
 Major threats to wildlife are directly related to increasing population of
humans.
 Low population of humans results in less disturbance to wildlife.

OTHER FACTORS:
 Business and industries.
 Oil spills.
 Road kill.
 For fur.

EFFECTS OF WILD LIFE DEPLETION:
 Unbalance food chain.
 Reduction in rare wild animals.
 Danger to human life.
 Impact on bio diversity.

WHY AND HOW SHOULD WE PROTECT WILD LIFE:

wildlife helps us in maintaining balance of nature,

the wildlife of India is our cultural asset and had deep
rooted effect on Indian art , sculpture and religion.

 protection by law
 shooting and hunting of endangered mustbe totally
banned
 research on wildlife must be encouraged
 public should be educated
