• THE AVERAGE SCORE FOR 2012 WAS HIGHER THAN THAT AVERAGE SCORE IN 2009.
• WE ARE NOT IN THE BOTTOM 20%, BUT FOR 2012, WE ARE IN THE BOTTOM 20%.
• THIS MATTER POSSIBLY BECAUSE OTHER COUNTRIES ALSO SHOW IMPROVEMENT IN
MATHEMATICS.

2015)
COMPARING RESULT OF PISA ASSESSMENT
WHAT WE CAN LEARN FROM OTHER COUNTRIES

Student Attitude
• Many Students Who Participated Did Not Consider It To Be Important. Many Questions Are Not
Answered.
Pisa Question Format
• PISA Questions Are Long-term Texts That Require Understanding, Translation And Reflection With Real
Life. Public Examination Questions Are Simple And Based On Figures And Tables.
Teacher Priority
• Most Teachers Focus On Completing The Syllabus Quickly And Do Not Take Time To Explain Students
With The Concept. Many Shortcuts Are Used To Memorize Mainly Through Drills.
Examinations And Culture System
• Consider Only The Results Of The Examination Alone, Not Giving Space To Creative Thinking. In
Addition, The Remuneration System Or Promotion In The Malaysian Education Institution Failed The
System.
School Based Assessment Failure
• School Based Assessment (PBS) Is Far From Its Goal And Is Different From Implementation In Other
Countries. Teachers Are Also Charged With Assignment Of Forms And Other Bureaucratic Work
Until Students Are Neglected And Reduce Time For Concepts And Understandings.
