Tips for Dietary
Management
 Give plenty of fluids
 Increase the fiber rich foods in diet i.e:
Fruits, Green leafy vegetables, Salads,
Whole grain cereals & cereal products,
and sprouted pulses.
 Regular exercise prevents
Constipation.
 Avoid the intake of refined foods i.e.:
food products made of maida - pastas,
macaroni, noodles, maggi, cakes,
pastries, all types of biscuits & bakery
products etc.

 Give more of liquid foods.
 Intake of vitamin-C rich foods i.e.:
orange/sweet-lime/pineapple is found to be
helpful.
 Give soft foods at room temperature that
are easy to swallow eg: Milkshakes,
Custards, Puddings, Kheer, Soups, Khichdi /
Soft rice with curd/soft vegetables (dudhi)
etc
 Avoid foods of extreme temperatures i.e.:
too hot / too cold

 Give more of liquid foods.
 Increase the fibre by giving more

 Don’t give irritating foods like too
Spicy/ Sour/ Bitter/ Hot.

buttermilk.
 Give curd liberally but avoid milk.
 Give fruits like Apple and Banana .
 Give Salt & Sugar solution to maintain the
electrolyte balance.
 To replenish the loss of electrolytes it is
essential to provide ORS.
