PHOTOGRAPHY
• An art or process of producing images by the action of
radiant energy and light on a sensitive surface (optical
sensor/film).
• The art of capturing the beauty of life, the act of
appreciating ‘the moment,’ and used as a personal database
in one quick snapshot.
• This uses cameras containing arrays of electronic
photodetectors to capture images focused by a lens, as
opposed to an exposure on photographic film.
• The captured images are digitized and stored as a computer
file ready for further digital processing, viewing, digital
publishing or printing.

HOW TO TAKE GOOD PHOTOS
Rule of Thirds
• It is also known as "rule of thumb“.
• A guideline which proposes that an image
should be imagined as divided into nine
equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal
lines and two equally spaced vertical lines,
and that important compositional elements
should be placed along these lines or their
intersections.
• Aligning a subject with these points creates
more tension, energy and interest in the
composition than simply centering the
subject.

Kinds of Cameras
1. Compact cameras - sometimes called point-and-shoot. They
are very convenient: cheap, small, light and fool proof. As the
name suggests, just point it in the general direction of the
subject and press the button. The camera does the rest.
Kinds of Cameras
2. Mirrorless cameras - new hybrids which started appearing in 2008. The
concept is to remove the bulky mirror and pentaprism necessary for the
optical viewfinder of a DSLR, but to keep the other capabilities, in
particular large sensors and interchangeable lenses. This allows for a
drastic reduction in size, putting them closer to compacts than DSLRs.
Kinds of Cameras
3. Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras (DSLRs) - the “serious”
camera of choice these days. Though this comes at the price of
a serious increase in weight and bulk, they are also much more
uncompromising on everything that matters.
