What is RCT?

 RCT is a real-time signaling tracing tool for multi-NE (multi-

system), and a type of software with server/client
architecture. It requires independent deployment and
supports tracing of multi-client.

RCT Deployment
 Since it is defined as a multi-NE tracing system, RCT is
deployed on U31. Besides, RCT is a piece of software that
runs independently. Therefore, it can be deployed on a
separate server as well as on the EMS server.

Installation of RCT with Single Server

 Install RCT database instance.
 Before installing RCT, create a new database instance (SID) named
RCT.
 1. Set the DISPLAY environment variables.
 2. Open Xmanager and log in as user oracle to open the database
configuration interface.

interface of All Initialization Parameters.

button to set the following two
parameters.
 The Value of nls_date_format should
be “YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS”.
 The Value of filesystemio_options
should be “setall”.

 Click Sizing to open the tab and set the value of
Processes to be 400.

 Click Character Sets to open the tab, and set Database
Character Set as “ZHS16GBK-GBK 16-bit Simplified
Chinese”, and National Character Set as “AL16UTF16”.

 Check the storage paths of Controlfile, Datafiles, and Redo Log files.
The storage paths must contain “{DB_NAME}” (Eg:
/datafile/u01/{DB_NAME}/), in order to avoid conflicts with the storage
paths of Minos data files. Besides, the File Size of the three Redo Log
files should be set as 512MB.

 In the tab of Options on the Controlfile interface, set the
following parameters:
 Maximum Datafiles: 254
 Maximum Redo Log Files: 32
 Maximum Log Members: 2

 Click the Finish button.

 Check for errors in the configuration. If there is no error,
click OK to start the installation.

 After the database instance is installed successfully, log in
as user oracle to modify two files listener.ora and
tnsnames.ora, which are saved under directory
$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin.

 Log in as user root and upload the RCT version to
directory /export/home and unzip it.
 Change the rights to the unzipped directory.
 chmod –R 755 rct_version
 Enter the directory of RCT’s installation software and
execute ./setup.sh as user root. When the prompt for
inputting the unzip absolute path appears, press Enter to
use the default path.

 Choose the installation language, and click Next.

 Select Normal Installation to install the Client and Server
Program, and click Next.

for selection. Click Next.

installation as /export/home/omc/rct, and click Next.
 Select the applications according to the NE. the COMMON
package must be selected.

 Connect the configuration
database.
 Database type: Oracle
 Database IP: use the IP of
the host where RCT is
installed; for the local and
remote dual-server
scenarios, use the floating
IP of oracle.
 Database SID: RCT
 Database port: keep the
default.
 After the above parameters
are configured, click Test
Database Connection.
When the test finishes
successfully, click Next.

 Logging onto RCT client:
 Taking logging onto RCT client under Windows as an example,
execute client.exe under the ums-client directory in the
client.
 Type IP:31100 for Server Address on the RCT Login interface.
“31100” is the port No.

 Adding NE:
 Click to enter the NE management interface from the main
interface, and click the button of Add to add NE.
 The combined version of OMCR and OMCB in this document
supports the creation of single-mode and multi-mode NE.
 First choose the NE Type (MUTI means multi-mode; TD, GSM,
UMTS represent single-mode)
