Culture Based on
Religious Values in
Islamic School
(Madrasah)

Introduction
The need of the society surrounding the institution
which is children or students have good Islamic
knowledge and deep understanding and
comprehension of Al Quran and religion as well.
Since the school is aiming to enhance school culture
based on values of religion, it has its own education
system that is embedding school culture which
focuses on Islamic teaching and learning in line with
Al quran and Hadits.

is the Arabic word for
any type of educational
institution, whether secular or
religious (of any religion)
madrasah simply means the same
as school does in the English language, whether
that is private, public or parochial school, as
well as for any primary or secondary school
whether Muslim, non-Muslim, or secular. (wiki)

However, In Indonesian context, Madrasah has


spesifically been known as Islamic School.
Current Status and Structure of
Science Education
 Current Status
 The School adopts school-based curriculum (KTSP)
following government regulations.
 a kind of Islamic boarding school as the need of
the society surrounding the institution which is
children are expected to have good Islamic
knowledge and deep understanding of Al Quran
and religion as well.
 Education system embedding school culture
which focuses on Islamic teaching and learning in
line with Al quran and Hadits.  Pesantren
Structure of Science Education
Adopts the structure that has been stated in
national curriculum.
 Combined science (IPA TERPADU) which
consist of biology and physics.
four teaching hours each;
one teaching hour is 45 minutes.
School Programs
 Memorizing short surahs (Chapter) of Qur’an.
 Intensive learning focuses on reading and
writing Qur’an (Baca Tulis Quran). 4
hours/week
 Habitual Practice : students must do sholat
(afternoon prayer) together.
 studying the science of fiqh and practice of
worship through learning the classic Book of
Islam (Kitab Kuning or Yellowed-book)

Extracurricular

The extracurricular provided by the school are,


1) Scouts (pramuka),
2) Bendera Pusaka Flag Hoisting Troop
(Pasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka),
3) Islamic tambourine art (hadrah).

Actually, the school has managed language


club; English and Arabic but this program still
doesn’t run as there were any obstacles.

problems, namely, integrating science
education and religious values or Education.
