OBJECTIVES
Aim

The aim of this project is to find the suitable location to build the new building by conducting the
photogrammetry work.

Objectives

The objective of this project is to:

a) Produce the ground control point (GCP) using GPS RTK method.
b) Produce Orthophoto and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from UAV image capturing.
c) Propose new site to construct the new building.
METHODOLOGY
Reconnaissance

• Basic step to start any survey job.

• The cost, manpower, time and method of survey can be planned ahead for better efficiency.
• Find control points near the site.
• Find nearest benchmark from the site.
• Establish TBM if needed.
Project planning

a) Convert project requirements to specifications in terms of area to be mapped, desired map scale and
contour interval. The determination of these specifications depends on the required accuracy of the final
map and on cost constraints.
b) Determine photogrammetric specifications in terms of flying height, the number of photographs needed,
the number of strips needed, flight lines, approximate location for exposure stations, and equipment to be
used. Specifications should also be developed for ground control, aerial triangulation, and compilation
methodology.
c) Develop a schedule for aerial photography, fieldwork, and map compilation. The schedule should be
coordinated with others work of this research. The GCP should be decided either to pre marked or post
marked depends on the study area. Targets should be placed as close as possible to the time of
photography.
d) Define the expected deliverables, including details on what features are to be mapped and their graphic
representation.
Drone Calibration

• Camera calibration
• Compass calibration

Data Acquisition

• Fly drone
• Capture image
Data Processing

• Using Pix4D software to process the raw data.

• Add images.
• Add GCP.
• Produce DEM.
• Produce thematic map.
RESULTS
CONCLUSION
• The existence of UAV which can be remotely control and can be link with application installed in smartphone
many research groups got to acquire data at adequately low cost.
• For this aerial project which is to find the suitable location to build the new building, we can say that the
objectives have been achieved.
• For horizontal control the difference in bearing which is 00°00’05” is acceptable because it is within the tolerance
that is must not more than 00°00’10” and the difference in distance also accepted because it is less than 0.05m
which is 0.004m.
• For accuracy assessment, we can see that there is huge difference between actual distance and measured distance
of GCP1 to GCP2 which is 0.2m compare to GCP3 to GCP4 which is 0.033m. Even though it was said that the
longest the distance of GPS observation, the less accurate the data, but in this case the longest distance have
accurate data compare to the short distance so that we can say that the problem come from the GPS equipment
itself where it does not work properly or may be due to the weather that it cannot properly works.
• From the DEM model generated to check the 3D model of the site selection, it shows the elevation point of the
terrain only on the area with the existence of buildings and trees since the ground at the study area is flat.
