Students will be able to identify different kind of verbs and

formulate sentences and stories using verbs. Students will also be able

to act out verbs using charades.

A verb is a word used to describe


an action, state, or occurrence.

We identify verbs by examining


the sentence and finding the
“action” happening.

CHARADES!!!

Act out a verb. After the classroom guesses what the word is, make a

sentence!

Action: jump

Sentence: Jimmy is jumping up and down.


Individual Work
Miss Bryton’s Class

With the notecards I have passed out, write a action word on one side. On

the other, draw a picture of that action word. Then trade with the people around

your desk and play charades with the people and the new notecards that you have

traded.

• Verbs are ACTION words.

• Verbs can be made into sentences.

• Jimmy can jump up and down.

• A verb can be easily shown physically by motions or by drawings.

For each (3) of your notecards, take out a piece of paper and

write a sentence containing your verb. Make sure it has correct

punctuation (end marks) and it starts with a capital!
