OBJECTIVES & OUTCOMES OF EM-II LAB

• OBJECTIVES:
To expose the students to the operation of Alternator, Synchronous motor
and induction motors and give them experimental skill.
• OUTCOMES:
Ability to understand and analyze the voltage regulation of alternator
using EMF and MMF methods
Ability to analyze the characteristics of synchronous motor using V and
Inverted V curves
Ability to understand the various characteristics of Induction Motor
Ability to acquire knowledge on separation of losses in Induction Motor

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• Avoid loose wires, cables, and connections.
• Assume any exposed metal is live with electricity unless otherwise verified.
• Only make changes to the experimental setup when the circuit power is turned
off and all power sources read zero voltage and zero current, as applicable.
• Never bypass fuses or MCB’s.
• Make sure that all DC power supplies, AC sources, and other power sources start
from a zero voltage and zero current output or as directed in an experiment.
• Turn off all equipment before leaving the lab once an experiment concludes.
• Every Student should know the locations and operating procedures of all safety
equipment including, First AID KIT (s) and Fire extinguisher.
• Electrical equipment and connections should not be handled with wet hands, nor
should they be used after liquid has been spilled on it.
