Japan is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean. Japan’s
capital, Tokyo, is widely known for having skyscrapers, places to shop, and it is known for its pop culture. I choose Japan because I really like their culture and the way that they are advanced in some areas. Japan is located in east Asia. It is near Korea and Russia. The languages that are mainly spoken in Japan are Japanese and Ryukyuan. As of 2018, the population of Japan is 127,185,332.

GEOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE Some physical features of Japan are Mount Fuji, Sea of Japan, Honshu and many more. The weather in Japan is typically humid and sunny. In Japan most people live in the country’s capital, Tokyo. The current population in Tokyo is 37,468,302. The less Mount Fuji populated area in Japan is Utashinai a city in Hokkaido, Japan. Utashinai has a population of 4,259 as of December of 2018. GOVERNMENT AND ECONOMICS Japan has a constitutional monarchy government. Since 2012, Japan’s prime minister is Shinzo Abe Japan’s economy is highly developed and is market-oriented. Some major exports from Japan include electronic equipment and cars. FOOD AND DRINK

Sashimi, Tempura, Yakitori and many more Some drinks from Japan are: Ramune; which is a famous carbonated soft drink, Pocari Sweat, Yakult, Canned Coffee,etc.

In Japan the main religions that are practiced are
Shinto and Buddhism. Buddhism believes in rebirth, and Shintoism believes in optimistic fate.

InJapan, it is common for a family to follow a nuclear family
model; but it can depend on the grandparents age. If they get older then they could live in the same household, but it would make it a very limited multi-generational home since Japan’s homes are usually kept small. A typical family has about 2 kids. FAMILY AND EDUCATION CONT.
In Japan, a typical child goes to elementary school for
6 years, then goes on to junior high for 3 years, and finally high school for another 3 years. CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS One holiday is New Years they normally celebrate it until the 3rd of January. another holiday is Hina Matsuri (Girl’s Festival) they celebrate this day by setting up dolls around Japanese homes. ENERGY RESOURCES Japan is not able to produce any resources on its own due to the land it is on, but they mainly consume non-renewable resources; Coal being at 50% consumption in 1950, and then going down to 16.8% in 2001. Twothings I found interesting were due to gases produced by
power plants, Japan sometimes suffers from acid rain also that Japan is made up of 6,852 islands. NATIVE ANIMALS Some interesting animals are: The spider crab, the goblin shark, and the giant salamander.
