perspective

Unit – II
IInd Semester
 What is pespective?
 Perspectiveis a system for
representing three-dimensional
space on a flat surface.
What is the Definition of
Perspective?

Perspective is the way a person

sees things. What a person sees
may be different than the next
person. It could be your view
points, your perspective, but not
another's view point.
 Perspectivedrawing is a system of
representing the way that objects
appear to get smaller and closer
together, the further away they
are.
 Perspectives of perspective

 One point perspective

 Two point perspective
 Three point perspective and
 Multi point perspective
What is One Point
Perspective?
 One point perspective is when

an artist draws an image from

the perceptive of his eye. It is
usually on a flat surface, such
as paper.

Vanishing point

Definition: In short, in Linear Perspective

drawing, the vanishing point is that spot
on the horizon line to which the
receeding parallel lines diminish.
See the vanishing point meets at
horizon line
Whatis Two point
perspective?
A two-point perspective is a
linear perspective of a drawing.
It is the point of view from a
fixed location that demonstrates
2 angles of the subject.
 In two point perspective, the viewer is positioned
such that objects (such as boxes or buildings)
are viewed from one corner, so that two sets of
horizontals diminish towards vanishing points at
the outer edges of the picture plane, while only
verticals remain perpendicular. It is slightly more
complex, as both the front and back edges, and
side edges, of an object must be diminished
towards vanishing points. Two-point perspective
is often used when drawing buildings in the
landscape.
Two point perspective
Three point
perspective
 In three point perspective the
viewer is looking up or down so
that the verticals also converge on
a vanishing point at the top or
bottom of the image.
Three point perspective in linear
Finished drawing
The main distinguishing factor present in three
point perspective is in its name.
One point perspective makes use of one
vanishing point.  Two point perspective uses
two vanishing points.  It should come as no
surprise that three point perspective uses three
vanishing points.  The third vanishing point in
three point perspective is not placed on the
horizon line as seen with two point and one
point perspective.  Instead the third vanishing
point is placed under or above the horizon.

History of perspective
 The invention of perspective
 The pictorial system of linear perspective was
developed during the early 15 th century.

by

 Leon Batista Alberti (1404 – 1472)

an architect, artist, antiquarian and man of letters.
 Filippo Brunelleschi ( 1377-1446)

 From this presentation with
oral explanations we hope you
all are eligible to do the two
point drawings on simple
objects and out door& interior
views.
All the best
