• Flexible work hours

• Annual Mandatory offs (No carrying forward the


leaves)

• Employee wellness programs

• SMART goals
Discourage Them
Owing to Challenge Stressors - Work pressures, Deadlines and Urgency

It can lead to Distress: Certain amount of stress is good, but too much of stress can lead to Distress

• Potential sources of stress are: Environmental Factors, Organizational Factors and Personal
Factors

• Consequences: Physiological problems, Psychological symptoms and Behavioural symptoms

How to discourage them?

• Effective division of work

• Short term goals (Breaking long term goals in small chunks)

• Discourage employees taking work to home

• Better work-life balance

• Providing them adequate time to complete assignments

• Provide comfortable work environment (office ergonomics)


Completely leave them to an employee’s wish

Some of the employees can handle stress efficiently, while


Some employees would not be able to sustain too much stress

But this situation can:


• Leads to non-uniformity (Lack of proper working hours)
• Leads to Indiscipline (Harassing subordinates, Personal grudges, Politics and Power play)

Managers are change agents and modifiers of organizational culture, so they can bring about
• Time flexibility at work – (In given time frame, give them the provision of choosing the
work hours)
• Help in bringing about self-discipline (individual time management trainings)
• De-stressing by providing options of variable pay, perks (holiday packages, counselling and
training, etc.)
