 Ephesus - The City
 The Message To The First Age

THE TIME PERIOD
 Being the "first" Church Age one can
easily fix the time period as beginning
in the first century and lapping well into
the second century. According to the
Bible, the Apostle Paul founded the
church at Ephesus about the middle of
the first century. With the Bible, history
and Divine guidance the end-time
Prophet fixed the duration of the first
Age as beginning at about 53 AD and
ending in 170 AD.
 THE MESSENGER: Paul - The Apostle
 That he was the messenger to the first age
of the Gentile era cannot be denied.
Though to Peter was granted the authority
to open the doors to the Gentiles, it was
given to Paul to be their apostle and
prophet. He was the Prophet-Messenger to
the Gentiles. His prophetic office, by which
he received the full revelation of the Word
for the Gentiles, authenticated him as their
apostolic messenger. To this agreed the
other apostles at Jerusalem.
Paul's Calling And Ministry To The
Gentiles
 Mga Taga Galacia 2:7-9
7) Kundi bagkus nang makita nila na sa akin
ay ipinagkatiwala ang evangelio ng di-
pagtutuli, gaya rin naman ng
pagkakatiwala kay pedro ng evangelio ng

aking ministerio;
 Paul's manner of ministering set the
pattern that all future messengers were to
aspire to, and actually sets the pattern for
every true minister of God, though he
would not attain to such height in the
prophetic realm as did Paul. Paul's ministry
had a three-fold quality and was as follows:
 First of, this great Apostle was absolutely
true to the Word. As these Scriptures
prove, Paul's first love was the Word, never
deviating from it no matter what the cost
 Notice that Paul was not governed by a
denomination or any form of organized
religion. He was absolutely Spirit-led, as
when God moved upon Moses to lead
Israel out of Egypt. Jerusalem's council
never sent Paul out, nor did it have any
power or jurisdiction over him. God, and
God alone, did the sending and the
leading. Paul was not of men, but of
God.
 Secondly, his ministry was in the
power of the Spirit, thereby
demonstrating the spoken and
written Word.
 Thirdly, Paul had the evident fruit of

his God-given ministry.
 Paul had been the means of bringing in
multitudes of the Gentile sheep; he fed them,
and cared for them, until they brought forth
righteous fruit and were prepared to meet the
Lord as a part of the Gentile bride.
 At the time of the writing of the Book of
Revelation, according to tradition, Paul had
already died a martyr, but John was carrying
on in his stead exactly as Paul had done in the
days of his ministry. The death of Paul, before
the Revelation was given, does not at all annul
the fact that he was the messenger to the
Ephesian Church Age, for the messenger to
every age, regardless of when he appears or
goes, is the one who influences that age for
God by means of a Word-manifested
ministry. Paul was that man.

The Prophetic Message To The Church
At Ephesus
 Pahayag 2:1-7

mo: Ang mga bagay na ito ay sinasabi
ng may hawak ng pitong bituin sa
kaniyang kanang kamay, na yaong
lumalakad sa gitna ng pitong
kandelerongginto:
2) Nalalaman ko ang iyong mga gawa, at
ang iyong pagpapagal at pagtitiis, at
hindi mo matiis ang masasamang tao,
at sinubok mo ang mga nagpapanggap
na apostol, at sila’y hindi gayon, at
nasumpungan mo silang pawang
bulaan;
3) At may pagtitiis ka at nagbata ka dahil
sa aking pangalan, at hindi ka napagod.
4) Nguni’t mayroon akong laban sa iyo, na
iyong iniwan ang iyong unang pagibig.
5) Kaya’t alalahanin mo kung saan ka
nahulog, at magsisi ka at gawin mo ang
iyong mga unang gawa; o kung hindi ay
paririyan ako sa iyo, at aalisin ko ang
iyong kandelerong sa kaniyang
kinalalagyan, maliban na magsisi ka.

EPHESUS - The City
Christianity Versus Paganism
 The name, Ephesus, has a strange compound

meaning, "Aimed at", and "Relaxed." These two
words express clearly what happened in the local
Ephesian church and prevailed throughout the
Ephesian Church Age. Under the influence of the
Revealed Word and Word teachings of the
Messenger, Paul, the Saints "aimed" high in the
fullness of the Spirit, experiencing "the depth and
high calling of God". As the Age progressed and
anti-Word influences increased the Saints began to
give way to a less watchful attitude.
 A lessening of zeal in following after Jesus Christ
began to manifest itself as an omen that in the
future ages the physical vehicle called the
church would sink to the awfulness of the "depth
of Satan." The local Church and the attitude of
the Church through the Age had become relaxed
and was drifting. Already the age was
backsliding. It had left its first love. The enemy
had, in this first age of the church, sown anti-
Word "seeds" which would in future ages (the
Dark Ages) bringing physical death to millions of
God's children. Coming to maturity in the
Seventh and last Age, the fruit of the "seeds"
sown in the Ephesian Age would bring spiritual
death to untold millions of professing Christians.
 The very religion of the city of Ephesus
types out perfectly this first church age
and sets the tenor of the ages to come.
The Ephesians worshipped the
goddess, Diana. Diana was to the
Ephesians, what Astarte was to the
Syrians; Venus to the Romans and Isis
to the Egyptians - all different names for
the same goddess who was worshipped
as the "Queen of Heaven". This worship
originated with Nimrod, his wife
Semiramis, and their son.
 With these three, the worship of a trinity of
father, mother and son began. The mother,
Semiramis was worshipped as "The Queen
of Heaven". Ahab's wife Jezebel introduced
into Israel the worship of Baal and Astarte,
the "goddess of heaven". Hardly a nation
escaped this spiritual pollution. In our study
of these Church Ages we will see how it
eventually infiltrated the church, establishing
the "worship" of the virgin Mary. It is nothing
less than the spirit of anti-christ moving the
emphasis away from the Lord Jesus Christ
to the false gods and goddesses of man-
made religion.
 It would take time for the spirit of anti-Christ to mix
pagan ideas and theology with the New Borned
Christian Church. But, already in this first age
pagan influence was subtly infiltrating the Church
of Christ. In this first age it took no shape so as not
to alarm the people. The True Believers did
recognize the anti-Word "deeds" of certain of the
brethren, but never realized that those "deeds"
would one day become a 'doctrine' among the
people; and this anti-christ doctrine would become
the law of an empire which would hold political and
spiritual dominion over the people.
 Regarding the pagan religion of Ephesus - the
worship of Diana.
 First of all, the priest of Diana were eunuchs -
basically, a sterile priesthood - prophetic of the
anti-Christ priesthood which would be introduced
into Christianity by the false vine church, wherein
their priests would be forbidden to marry. Above
and beyond the "physical sterility" it reflected a
spiritually sterile church which had drifted from
their love for the Word of God and become unable
to reproduce the Word in everyday living. They
became entrenched in a "form of godliness",
satisfied with religious ritual, ceremony and works.
A "dead faith without Holy Ghost manifestations"
would be the order of worship.
 Secondly, a man, a high-priest was the overseer of
all that pertained to the worship of the goddess
Diana. He was a man of political power and public
influence, portraying what was already in progress,
though not too manifested as yet, in this First Age -
that is, the church would soon be given over to
human leadership. Void of Divine inspiration they
would govern the church by human interpretations
of the Will of God rather than the Revealed Word
give by the Messenger of the Age. Any Holy Ghost
move among the people would be branded as
fanaticism and persecuted unto death. This was
represented by the pagan temple slaves who had
no choice but obedience to the religious hierarchy.
All these things spoke of what was to
come in greater manifestation in future
ages of the Church. Man-made and
man-appointed clergy, would,
by political maneuvering and state
help enslave the laity, making them
servants to the creeds, dogmas and
rituals of a church run by corrupt
leaders, giving their power and glory
over to the anti-Christ beast spoken of
in the Book of Revelation.
THE THYATIREAN CHURCH AGE
The second Church Age

THE TIME PERIOD
With the Bible, history and vindicated Divine
guidance the end-time Prophet fixed the
duration of the first Age as beginning at about
170 A.D. and ending in 312 A.D. The duration of
this age is 142 years - 25 years more than the
first age. Each age will increase in it's span of
years, climaxing with the fourth which is the
longest age. The fifth age drops back to 230
years, the sixth to 156 years and the seventh,
beginning in 1906 with a presently unknown
span of time.
 THE MESSENGER: Irenaeus
 Irenaeus was exalted by the Lord to be
the Messenger to this Second Church
Age. He was the disciple of that great
saint and warrior of faith, Polycarp. And
it is no doubt that as he sat at the feet of
that great man he learned the Christian
graces that flowed from his consecrated
life. Polycarp was one of the truly
illustrious saints of all ages when
viewed in the light of a blameless life.
 In his old age Polycarp was martyred. Too
sincere a man to allow another to hide him
and then suffer a penalty for doing so, he
gave himself up to death. He stood firm,
refusing to deny the Lord, and died with a
free conscience. When he was placed at
the steak and the fire lit, the flames bent
away from his body, refusing to touch him.
He was pierced through with a sword,
causing water to gush from his side,
drowning the flames. His spirit was actually
seen to depart in the form of a white dove
released from his bosom.
 A wonderful testimony of the faithfulness
of God to His servant. Polycarp was a
student of John the Revelator but when
confronted with the "deeds of the
Nicolaitanes" which started in the First
Age, he did not take his stand against it.
On the contrary, he himself leaned toward a
more organized form of Christianity, not
realizing that the desire for fellowship and
what appeared like a good plan to foster
the work of God was really a trick of the
enemy.
 But Irenaeus was militant against any form
of organization, with "man over man"
controlling the Church. Also, his life,
wherein be served the Lord, was one of
great Holy Spirit manifestations, glorifying
God. He clearly taught the Word, always
conforming to its original precepts. His
churches in France were known to have the
gifts of the Spirit among them, for the
saints spoke in tongues, prophesied,
raised the dead, and healed the sick by the
prayer of faith.
 Recognizing the danger of the "deeds
of the Nicolaitanes" Irenaeus
opposed any organized brotherhood
among the elders, pastors etc. He
stood solidly for a unified, Spirit-filled
church - manifesting the gifts of the
Holy Spirit. He stood for a Sovereign
God, working Sovereignly in the
power of the Holy Spirit in each local
body of believers.
 He was also clear on his understanding of the
Godhead. And since he was the disciple
of Polycarp, who in turn was the disciple of Saint
John, we can know for sure he had as perfect
teaching as is possible on this subject. In Vol. 1,
page 412 of the Ante Nicene Fathers we have this
statement by him on the Godhead.
 "All the other expressions, likewise, bring out the

title of one, and the same being, the Lord of
Power, the Lord, the Father of All, God Almighty,
Most High, Creator, Maker, and such like, these
are not the names and the titles of a succession
of different beings, but of one and the same."
 Irenaeus understood clearly that all these "titles"
were not referring to different "persons", but as
other titles, such as the Rose of Sharon, Bright and
Morning Star, Fairest of Ten Thousand, etc., all
point to ONE God. His Name is Lord Jesus Christ.
 The Messenger to the Smyrnean Church Age was
steadfast in his allegiance to the WORD of God.
This characteristic, along with his wonderful
understanding of Scriptures, and the manifestation
of the power of God upon that ministry, vindicates
him to have been God's choice for the Age.
Irenaeus possess a balance of fruit, power, and
leadership in the Holy Spirit and the Word. In this
Age he was the one who influenced the age for
God by means of a ministry which was solidly
based on the WORD - in the Power and
demonstration of the Holy Spirit.

The Prophetic Message To The Church At
THYATIREAN
 Pahayag 2:8-11
8) At sa anghel ng iglesia sa Smirna ay isulat
mo: Ang mga bagay na ito ay sinasabi ng una
at ng huli, na namatay, at muling nabuhay:
9) Nalalaman ko ang iyong kapighatian, at ang
iyong kadukhaan (datapuwa’t ikaw ay
mayaman), at ang pamumusong ng mga
nagsasabing sila’y mga Judio, at hindi sila
gayon, kundi isang sinagoga ni Satanas.
10) Huwag mong katakutan ang mga bagay
na iyong malapit ng tiisin: narito, malapit
ng ilagay ng diablo ang ilan sa inyo sa
bilangguan, upang kayo’y masubok; at
magkaroon kayo ng kapighatiang
sangpung araw. Magtapat ka hanggang
sa kamatayan, at bibigyan kita ng putong
ng buhay.
11) Ang may pakinig, ay makinig sa sinasabi
ng Espiritu sa mga iglesia. Ang
magtagumpay ay hindi parurusahan ng
ikalawang kamatayan.
Smyrna - The City
The False Vine Church Gains Ground
 The name of this city means, "bitter," being
derived from the word, myrrh. Myrrh was used in
embalming the dead. Thus we have a two-fold
significance found in the name of this age. It was
a bitter age filled with death. The two vines within
the framework of the church would in this Age
drift further apart with the "false vine" harboring
an even increasing bitterness toward the "true
vine". Spiritual death reigned in the false vine,
causing them to persecute unto physical death
the remnants of the true vine. Thus the
admonition of the Lord to His Elected children in
the Smyrnaean Age: "...Be thou faithful
unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life."
 Paganism was known to flourish greatly in Rome, and
in Rome, the false vine, riddled with Paganism would
find it's resting place. From there the false vine
church would spread it's false doctrines around the
world.
 The joining of the two Pagan temples of a god and
goddess would [in a later age] influence the false vine
church to introduce "mother [Mary] AND Son [Jesus]"
worship. Mary would be elevated to a position of co-
equalness with Jesus Christ and given the title of the
"mother of God". Seeing these [little by little] things
overtaking the Church, was "bitterness" indeed to the
heart and soul of the True Vine. Taking a stand
against it would cost them their lives. What transpired
in the local church and in the City was but a reflection
of what was to transpire in the Smyrnaean Age.
THE PERGAMEAN CHURCH AGE

PERGAMOS
The 3rd Church Age
THE TIME PERIOD
The Pergamean Age lasted almost 300 years, from, 312 to
606 A.D. In this age Christ is standing in the midst with a
sharp two-edged Sword. He comforts His own and
further contends with the "doctrines" of Balaam and
the Nicolaitans. In the Smyrnaean Age the Lord spoke of
the "synagogue of Satan. In this Age He speaks of
"Satan's Seat" and "Where Satan Dwelleth".
Also, in this Age Christ identifies by Name, a faithful martyr.
He concludes with a call to "repentance" and a reminder
of the reward to the overcomer. What things were ideas
and deeds among the people in the previous two ages,
now become established doctrines and orders in this
Third Age. Let's keep in mind that the two vines [true
and false] which began in the Ephesian Age continues
into this age. Stay in the Spirit of Divine revelation - this
will enable us to discern the "True" from the "false".
The 3rd Church Age
 THE MESSENGER - ST MARTIN
 His ministry to the Pergamean Age was
powerful in Word and Demonstration of
the Spirit. Praise the Lord! He stayed
with the "original Word", rejecting any
suggestion to "add" human opinions
and ideas, thereby weakening it's effect
on the people - "Making the word of God
of none effect through your
tradition..." Mark 7:13.
The 3rd Church Age
 Born in 315 in Hungary, the greater part of his
ministry was in France where he labored in and
around Tours as a bishop. Having fought "the good
fight" for Truth he went to be with the Lord in 399
A.D. He was 84 years old. We should note here that
this great saint was the uncle of another wonderful
Christian, St. Patrick of Ireland.
 Prior to his "call" to the Ministry of the Gospel,
Martin was was a professional soldier. While still in
the ranks he came to know Jesus Christ as his
Lord and Saviour. It was while he was still engaged
in his soldier occupation that a most remarkable
miracle occurred - it changed Martin's life forever.
The 3rd Church Age
 It is recorded that a beggar lay sick in the
streets of the town where Martin was posted.
The winter cold was more than the beggar
could bear for he was poorly clad. No one paid
any attention to his needs until Martin came by.
Seeing this poor man's plight, but not having
an extra garment, he took off his outer cloak,
cut it in two with his sword, and wrapped the
cloth around the freezing man. Attending to the
man as best he could, Martin went on his way.
That night the Lord Jesus appeared unto him
in a vision. There He stood, like a beggar,
wrapped in the half of Martin's garment.
The 3rd Church Age
 TheLord spoke,
saying, "Martin,
though you're
only yet young in
the Gospel, you
have clothed Me
with this
garment."
The 3rd Church Age
 Leaving the army he became a leader in
the church. His love for his Lord and his
zeal for the WORD was manifested in
his very militant stand against pagan
idolatry. He cut down the groves, broke
up the images and pulled down the
altars - proclaim the Truth of the One
True and Living God - the Lord Jesus
Christ. When confronted by the pagans
for his deeds he challenged them in
much the same manner that Elijah did
the prophets of Baal.
The 3rd Church Age
 He offered to be tied to a tree on its
underside so that when it was cut down it
would crush him unless God intervened
and turned the tree around while it fell.
Responding to the challenged, the pagans
tied him to a tree that was growing on the
side of a hill, assured that the natural pull
of gravity would cause the tree to so fall
and crush him. Just as the tree began to
fall, God swung it around and uphill,
contrary to all natural laws. The fleeing
heathen were crushed as the tree fell on
several of them.
The 3rd Church Age
 Historians acknowledged that on at least three
occasions he raised the dead by faith in Jesus'
Name. In one instance be prayed for a dead
baby. Like Elisha, he stretched himself upon
the babe and prayed. It came back to life and
health. On another occasion he was called to
help deliver a brother who was being carried
away to his death in a time of great
persecution. By the time he arrived the poor
man was already dead. They had hanged him
upon a tree. His body was lifeless and his eyes
protruded from the sockets. But Martin took
him down, and when he had prayed the man
was restored to life and to his rejoicing family
The 3rd Church Age
 The was no fear of the enemies of Truth in
the eyes or heart of Martin. When he stood
for the Revealed Word of God he had no
respect of persons - not even the emperor.
He went to personally face a wicked
emperor who was responsible for the death
of many Spirit-filled saints. The emperor
would not grant an audience, so Martin
went to see a friend of the emperor, one
Damasus, a cruel bishop of Rome. But the
bishop, being a nominal Christian of the
false vine would not intercede.
The 3rd Church Age
 Not to be deterred in his mission, Martin went
back to the palace, but by now the gates had
been locked and they would not allow him to
enter. He lay down on his face before the
Lord and prayed that he be able to get into the
palace. He heard a voice bidding him arise. When
be did so, be saw the gates open of their own
accord. He walked directly into the emperor's
court. But the arrogant ruler would not so much
as turn his bead to acknoweldge or speak to him.
Martin again prayed. Then suddenly, the Lord
caused a fire to come spontaneously from the
seat of the throne, forcing the very unhappy
emperor out of the throne to "stand" in the
presence of His Servant, Martin. The Lord knows
how to humble the proud and exalt the lowly.
The 3rd Church Age
 Martin was a "praying man". It was proven in his
life that "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous
man availeth much." James 5:16. Such was his
ardour in serving the Lord that the devil was
mightily aroused against Martin's ministry and life.
The enemies of truth hired assassins to kill Martin,
They came by stealth to his home and as they were
about to kill him, he stood erect and bared his
throat to the sword. As they leaped forward, the
power of God suddenly hurled them back across
the room. So overcome were they in that holy and
fearful atmosphere that they crawled upon their
bands and knees and begged forgiveness for the
attempt upon his life.
The 3rd Church Age
 Too often when men are mightly used of the Lord
[with signs and wonders following their ministries]
they become lifted up with pride. But not so with
Martin. He ever remained the humble servant of
God. One night as he was preparing himself to
enter the pulpit, a beggar came to his study and
asked for some clothing. Martin referred the beggar
to his head deacon, who simply commanded him to
leave. Rather than leave he went back to see
Martin. Martin, in his compassion for the beggar
gave him his best robe, and bade the deacon bring
him another robe which was of lesser quality. That
night as Martin preached the Word, the flock of
God saw a soft white glow of light around this
anointed servant of God.
The 3rd Church Age
 In countless numbers the TRUE Christians were
still being destroyed by the devil through the
instrtumentality of the wicked. They were burned
alive. They were given as prey to the wild dogs,
to die in terrible torture. Babes were ripped [with
swords] from expectant mothers and thrown to
the dogs. And the tragedy was even greater to
think about when one realizes that this was not
solely the work of the heathen, but many times it
was caused by so-called Christians who felt that
they did God a favor in exterminating these loyal
soldiers of the cross who stood for the
Word and obedience to the Holy Spirit. John 16:2
and Matthew 24:9 was a reality to them
The 3rd Church Age
 By signs and wonders, by the power of the
Holy Ghost, Martin was truly vindicated as the
messenger to the Pergamean Age. But not only
was he gifted by a great ministry, be himself
was forever true to the Word of God.
He fought organization. He withstood sin in
high places. He championed the truth in word
and deed and lived out a full life of Christian
victory.
 Martin was a MESSENGER indeed - FAITHFUL
to his Lord and Saviour, giving preeminence to
the leadership of the Holy Ghost in all things
that pertained to life and goldliness.

araw man ni Antipas na aking saksi,
aking taong tapat, na pinatay sa gitna

diyang ilan na nanghahawak sa aral ni
Balaam, na siyang nagturo kay Balac na
maglagay ng katisuran sa harapan ng

15) Gayon din naman na mayroon kang ilan
na nanghahawak sa aral ng mga
Nicolatia.

16) Magsisi ka nga; o kung hindi ay madaling
paririyan ako sa iyo, at babakahin ko sila
ng tabak ng aking bibig.

nakakaalam kundi yaong tumanggap.
The 3rd Church Age
 Yet it was a city of great sin, given over to
licentious rites of the worship of Aesculapius,
whom they worshipped in the form of a living
serpent which was housed and fed in the temple.
In this beautiful city of irrigated groves, public
walks and parks lived a small group of dedicated
believers who were not fooled by the veneer of
beauty, and abhorred the Satanic worship that
filled the place.
 That small group of faithful Saints would endure
much in the City and in the Age foretold by the
Message to the Church in Pergamos. Paganism's
influence over the Christian Church in this City
and this Age would take it's toll on the Faithful
ones.

The 4rd Church Age
THE TIME PERIOD
The Thyatirean Age lasted the longest of
them all, about 900 years, from 606 to
1520 AD. In this Age, Jezebel, the false
prophetess, the spirit of Balaamism and
the Nicolaitane attitude of the False Vine
seems to have triumphed over the True
Vine. But a believing remnant is found
to have endured the on-slaught of "false
religion" in this Age.
 THE MESSENGER - Columba
 Continuing to use the "A God Given Rule for
choosing the messenger to each age, we find
that the Brother whose ministry most closely
compares to that of the first messenger, Paul,
was St. Columba. His ministry to the
Thyatirean Age was powerful in Word and
Demonstration of the Spirit. He stayed with the
"original Word", over-ruling all human opinions
and ideas. He took his stand against the
"religious tradition" which was now becoming
ingrained in people's thinking, through the
teaching of the false vine.
 About 60 years after the death of St. Patrick,
Columba was born in County Donegal, North
Ireland, to the royal family of Fergus. He became a
brilliant, consecrated scholar, committing to
memory most of the Scripture. God called him in
an audible voice to be a missionary. After he had
beard the voice of God, nothing could stop him,
and his miraculous ministry has caused many
historians to acclaim him next to the apostles. So
great was his ministry with the supernatural signs
following that some (especially students in Rome)
supposed that the accounts were exaggerated. But
God testified of validity of His servants ministry.
