Review: 1 1
Objective
• To control the pollution using of Nano particles
• To reduce emissions from the motor vehicles
• To convert the harmful combustion byproduct like CO,NO
X,HC in to harmless product
2
Introduction
• A catalytic converter is a vehicle emissions control device that
is used to convert toxic gas into less toxic gas by performing
catalyzed chemical reactions
• Nanotechnology is the also considered as the generation next
technology or the technology for the future
• It is vastly gaining popularity and acceptance due to improved
results, better performance, reduced pollution and widespread
utility.
3
Introduction
• Mostly the catalytic converter used for motor vehicles (on the
market) is in a type of pellet and monolithic catalysts
• The materials made from Nobel metals, such as palladium
(Pd), Platinum (Pt) and Rhodium (Rh)
• Those metals have a high specific activity, a large degree of
volatility, easily oxidized and easily broken at high
temperature so we introduce nano particles such as oxides of
zirconium and iron in the place of palladium and platinum that
can withstand very high temperature (2715C and 1566C)
