Questions can be asked anytime throughout the Training
 Gaskets are used to create a static seal between two stationary
members of a mechanical assembly and to maintain that seal
under operating conditions which may vary dependent upon
changes in pressures and temperatures.
 Does Two flanges seal without gasket?
 If Yes then Why?
 If No then Why not?

Installation of an Incorrectly Sized Gasket at a Solvent
Manufacturing Plant
 On 10th January 2000, approximately 100 barrels of jet fuel
were discharged from Plantation Pipeline in Newington,
Virginia, resulted from a failed gasket on an interface
detector
 On 22nd February 2003, approximately 788 barrels of
gasoline were discharged from a portion of Plantation
Pipeline in Hull, Georgia, resulted from a failed gasket on a
buried block valve.
