Introduction

• This report is purely based on the interview given by Mr. Sohail


Abbas, who is working as Asst. Accounts manager in Servis
industry. A questionnaire was designed to collect info about how
upper level hierarchy deal with their subordinates. The questionnaire
consisted of four aspects of an organization including, Treatment,
Collaboration, Communication and Leadership respectively. It was
half an hour interview and Sohail Abbas saahb precisely elaborated
all the above aspects. Given below is a brief categorical summary of
the interview.
Treatment

• In this segment, Sohail Abbas was asked about


how middle managers are treated by their
supervisors in an organization. According to him,
Servis has flexible culture, and every employee is
treated with respect regardless of their position or
authority. When asked about input and decisions,
he said, 'We practice Democratic way of solving
issues and tasks. Democratic means that any
employee can provide suggestion regarding any
objective or task to be achieved, and the best one is
accepted. In this way, employee morale boosts up
and ultimately results in improved organizational
productivity'.
• Moreover, the supervisor is easily approachable n sensitive
to subordinate issue s. He strongly agreed that the
supervisor listens to their concerns, provide adequate
feedback on job performance during the stage of completion
of the task. According to him, it is necessary for the whole
organization and its departments to be on one page, and he
didn't hesitate to say that he experienced this while being a
middle manager in Servis.
• This segment is comprised of the element
of communication between the hierarchy
level of the organization. We asked
Sohail Abbas about well-informed are
employees about what is occurring in their
Communication organization, how often their supervisor
visit them, and whether they're informed
about their role and vision of the
organization.
• He said that with ever-changing technological and system
improvements, it is necessary for the supervisor to first
understand the objective and then communicate it
downward the hierarchy. When asked about his experience
and he clearly stated that, 'We do not face communication
gap in Servis. The manager knows what to do and how to
do, delivers the information to lower hierarchy and takes
proper feedback from time to time.
• Sohail Abbas had a clear point of view
about leadership. he said, 'A leader
especially a corporate leader, should
possess the quality to foresee things. He is
just like a captain of the ship forecasting
and setting the direction of his ship in
order to tackle uncertainties’. According
to him, it’s a leader's responsibility to
practically demonstrate things to his
subordinates. He said that once our
manager had to demonstrate a new shoe
making related technique, and to out utter
surprise, he practically did all the work in
front of our labor department and showed
them how to get it done. This is a perfect
example of leadership. Leadership
• While talking about organizational culture,
he stated that we promote professionalism in
work and flexibility in treatment. Employees
are provided with both intrinsic and
extrinsic awards depending on their input.
He referred performance appraisals with
the example of a family. The child who is
obeying and hardworking, is always in the
good books of his parents.
Collaboration

• 'As I said before, our organization is at one page. While


doing a task, our manager collaborates with us due to
which, work is done timely n effectively'. He further said,
'Suggestions are welcome from anyone, if feasible and
potentially effective, they're adopted.' This was his reply to
our question regarding employee participation in setting
organizational goals.
