Christianity
teaches about
Service
What is service?

• The act of helping for those in need.

• Doing good to other people.
 • People seek or find purpose
in life through service.
• Others enjoy by being
recognized by others in the
service they did.
• In Christianity service is
AGAPE! (the love of the
other for the sake of love)

What is the service for

Christians?
 Where do we get the value of this love?

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love

your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I
“This is my commandment, That ye love
tell you, love your enemies and pray for
one another, as I have loved you. Greater
those who persecute you, that you may be
love hath no man than this, that a man
children of your Father in heaven. He
lay down his life for his friends. (John
causes his sun to rise on the evil and the
15:12-13)
good, and sends rain on the righteous and
the unrighteous. (Matt. 5:43-45)
How did Jesus
show service to
others?
• Jesus washed his disciples feet.
• Jesus cured the sick.
• Jesus feed the hungry.
• Jesus gave up his life.
What does God expects
from us?
• In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the
beginning with God. All things were made through
Him, and without Him nothing was made that was
made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of
men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the
darkness did not comprehend it. (John 1:1-5)
• As God created us in his own image and likeness by his
great love, we too are expected to share and spread
this love to our neighbors through service.
