1.Introduction
Energy plays a vital role in our daily life. The energy consumption is increasing
very rapidly, due to increase in population, industrialization etc. Proposal for the
utilization of waste energy of foot power with human locomotion is very much
relevant and important . For an alternate method to generate electricity there are
number of methods by which electricity can be produced, out if such methods foot
step generation can be effective method to generate electricity. Walking is the
most common activity in human life. When a person walks he loses energy to the
road surface in the form of impact, vibration, sound etc. Due to the transfer of his
weight on the road surface through foot falls on the ground during every step. This
energy can be converted to the unsable form such as electrical form.Human kinetic
energy can be useful in a number of ways but it can also use to generate electricity
based on different approaches. Alternative or non-conventional or renewable
energy are very essential to develop for future energy requirements. Non-
Conventional energy using footstep needs no input power to generate the output of
the electrical power. In this project we use simple drive mechanism such as rack
and pinion assembly.

In this project of power generation

there is not any fuel input
requirement for the generation of
electrical power. Thus it can also be
concluded that this mode of power

generation of power using this type
of model. Hence due to such
advantages, this system can be
embedded at any of the public places
like railway platforms, busy
footpaths, malls etc.

3. Objective

• To generate electrical power as non-conventional method by

simply running or walking on the foot step.

• To reduce the fuel input power to generate electrical power.

• By making to rotate rack and pinion arrangement in their

direction the output power can be increased and overall cost
reduces.

6.Working Principle
Working principle is based on the law of energy i.e, Mechanical energy is
converted in to electrical energy. When the force is applied on the foot
step, springs gets compressed and the energy passes vertically through the
rack arrangement and the reciprocating movement converted into rotating
motion of the pinion and when force gets released it goes on its initial
position. The sprocket arrangement on the same shaft is connected with the
other sprocket with the help of small gear to transfer the energy. Finally
Sanyo coil is connected with the shaft which shows the output by
converting the mechanical energy into electrical energy.
