CONSTRUCTION OF

REINFORCED
CONCRETE BRIDGES
BRIDGE

• The bridge is one form of construction that functions to continue the

road through obstacles. Like rivers, valleys and so on so that road
traffic is not disturbed by it.
REINFORCED CONCRETE BRIDGE

• The concrete bridge is a bridge whose construction is made of the main

material sourced from concrete.
• Reinforced concrete is a building material that is strong, durable and can
be formed into various sizes.
NATURE OF CONCRETE

• Concrete is a mixture consisting of natural aggregates such as gravel, sand,

and adhesives. The adhesive material commonly used is water and cement.

• Lower bridge structure (Substructures)
• Complementary bridge bridge building
BRIDGE COMPONENT
BRIDGE TOP STRUCTURE ...

The upper bridge structure is the part that receives a direct load which
includes its own weight, dead load, additional dead load, vehicle traffic load,
brake force, pedestrian load etc.
THE GIRDER BEAM

• The girder beam is a flexible structural component composed of several

plate elements. The girder beam is basically a beam with a large cross
section and a long span.
THE DIAPHRAGM

• the diaphragm means the transverse component of the bridge that

connects beams or girders in the adjacent longitudinal direction.

THE WIND BOND

• The wind bond on the bridge serves to give stiffness to the bridge and forward the load
due to wind to the final portal.
BRIDGE BEARINGS

• Bridge bearings are structural equipment or devices installed between bridge

substructure and superstructure to transfer the applied load including earthquake
loads; wind loads; traffic loads; and superstructure self-weight.
UNDER BRIDGE STRUCTURE ...

The structure under the bridge serves to carry all the upper structural
loads and other burdens caused by soil pressure, water flow, and drift,
collisions, friction, on support and so on and then channeled to the next
foundation, these loads are channeled by basic ground foundation.
ABUTMENT

• Abutment is a building under the bridge that is located at both

ends of the pillars of the bridge, serves as a bearer of all living
loads (wind, vehicles, etc.) and dies (girder loads, etc.) on the
bridge.
• The pillar is the supporting structure of the upper building, the pillar can
be used on long span bridges, the position of the pillar is on a two-sided
support.

THE FOUNDATION

• The foundation serves as “holding all the loads (life and death) that are
above it and the forces from the outside”. The foundation is part of the
structure that functions to carry the load towards the supporting soil layer
below.
