1. The term 'soil moisture regime' refers to water

available to keep most mesophytic plants
alive.
2. Dry is moisture tension >1500 kPa.
3. Moist is tension is < 1500 kPa but more than
zero.

 Upper boundary is depth to which a dry soil

will be moistened by 2.5 cm of water within
24 hours.
 Lower boundary is depth to which a dry soil
will be moistened by 7.5 cm of water within
48 hours.
