ANATOMY OF THE EYE

JI JOAQUIN
INTRODUCTION
• eye is a specialized sense organ that helps us to understand our
environment. It is a sensory unit composed of three parts: receptor,
sensory pathway, and a brain center.

COMPOSED OF:
A. EYEBALL
B. ADNEXA
A. EYEBALL
The three tunics are:

I- An external fibrous tunic

II- A middle vascular tunic

III- An internal tunic

I. FIBROUS TUNIC
II. VASCULAR TUNIC
III. INNER TUNIC

I. ORBITAL FASCIA
II. MUSCLES OF THE EYEBALL
III. EYELIDS AND CONJUNCTIVA

II. MUSCLES OF THE EYEBALL
INTRINSIC MUSCLE: CILLIARY BODY
III. EYELID AND CONJUNCTIVA

BLOOD SUPPLY
 The arteries can be divided into three groups:
1. THOSE SUPPLY EYEBALL
2. SUPPLY OCULAR MUSCLES
3. THOSE LEAVING THE ORBIT TO SUPPLY ADJACENT STRCTURES.

 The external ophthalmic artery carries the principle supply of the

blood to the eye, which is a branch of the maxillary artery.
2) The arteries that supply the ocular muscles. Which the absence of
the large vessels in distal ends reduces bleeding when the muscles
are cut during the enucleating.
3) The arteries that leave the orbit:
