The Philippine is a republic with a
residential form of government
wherein power is equally divided
among its three branches:
LEGISLATIVE
EXECUTIVE
JUDICIAL
The Legistlative Branch is
authorize to make laws,
alter, and repeal the through
the power vested in the
Philippine Congress. This
Institution is divided into the
Senate and House of the
Representatives
SENATE

The senate is composed of 24


senators who serve a 6-yr term
with half of the senators elected
every 3 yrs to ensure that the
senate is maintained as a
continuous body.
HOUSE OF THE REPRESENTATIVE

Informally called “Congress” , members are


called congressmen and their title is
Representative.elected to a 3 yrterm and
can be re-elected but cannot serve more
than 3 consecutive years. The H.O.R is
headed by Speaker, currently occupied by
former President and now
Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal
Arroyo from Pampanga. She was elected
to the office on July 23, 2018
The Executive Branch is
composed of the President and
the Vice President who are
elected by direct popular vote and
serve a term of six years. The
Constitution grants the President
authority to appoint his Cabinet.
These departments form a large
portion of the country’s
bureaucracy.. He lives in a former
palace called Malacanang.
• The President leads the country. He or
she is the head of state, leader of the
national government, and Commander-in-
Chief of all armed forces of the
Philippines. The President serves a six-
year term and cannot be re-elected.
• The Vice President supports the
President. If the President is unable to
serve, the Vice President becomes
President. He or she also serves a six-
year term.
• Cabinet members serve as advisors to the
President. They include the Vice President
and the heads of executive departments.
Cabinet members are nominated by the
President and must be confirmed by the
Commission of Appointments.
The Judiciary Branch holds the power
to settle controversies involving rights
that are legally demandable and
enforceable. This branch determines
whether or not there has been a
grave abuse of discretion amounting
to lack or excess of jurisdiction on the
part and instrumentally of the
government. It is made up of the
Supreme Court and lower courts.
• Supreme Court - the highest court in the
Philippines. The Court was established by
the second Philippine Commission in June
11, 1901 through the enactment of Act No.
136.
• the lower court is the court whose
decision is being reviewed, which may be
the original trial court or appellate court
lower in rank than the superior court which
is hearing the appeal.

MONARCHY

Rule by a single person (a king or


queen), who is the permanent head
of state. The term is now used to
refer to countries with hereditary
rulers. This means that rule is
passed down from parent to child.
Example of countries with monarchies
today: Great Britain and Australia
DEMOCRACY

Supreme power is given to the people and


exercised by them directly or indirectly
through a system of representation.
Democratic countries have free elections
where all citizens have a vote.
Examples of Democratic countries today:

ARISTROCRACY

An aristocracy is a form of
government where a small group of elites
rule. Aristocrats, or the ruling elites, tend
to enjoy both social and economic prestige
as well as political power.
Modern students usually
associate aristocrats with a monarchy, or
a government ruled by a single person
