EXPERIMENT Reporting • Problem • Introduction • Hypothesis • Method of experiment – Subject – Apparatus/Materials required – Design of the experiment – Planning and arrangement – Instructions – Procedure of the experiment – Introspective report – Data collection and treatment • Results and Discussion • Conclusions • Problem : The name of the experiment is written before stating the problem • The problem should clearly state – Purpose of the experiment – Variables studied • Introduction : should contain – A detailed introduction of the problem and variable – Definition(different authors) and significance of the variable – Findings of similar studies • Hypothesis: – Provisional answer to the question raised in the problem – On the basis of experience and finding of previous experiments conducted , it Indicates the relationship between the dependent and independent variable • Method of Experiment: It includes – Subject –Preliminary information about the subject like –name, gender, age, educational and general health is recorded – Apparatus/Materials required –details of the apparatus and materials – Design of the experiment – tells about the ways of manipulation of the independent variable , control of extraneous variable , number of the conditions – Planning and arrangement – arrangement of the experiment – subject seating comfortably, arrangement of apparatus and materials, and explanation of the function of the apparatus – Instructions- The experimenter instructs the subject regarding the task to be performed in simple language – Procedure of the experiment- after the instructions, preliminary trials are conducted. • Experiment is begun and responses are recorded by the experimenter or the subject as per instructions. – Introspective report –after completion of data collection , the subject expresses feelings and is recorded as the introspective report. – Data collection and treatment –the experimenter maintains a record of the performance of the subject in different trials . • RESULTS AND DISCUSSION • Results are interpreted and discussed • Findings discussed trisl by trial with reason • Gradual or sudden improvement and decrement of the scores are indicated • Earlier studies in support of obtained scores is also added • CONCLUSIONS • Conclusions are drawn on the basis of results . Status of hypothesis – confirmed or rejected is also mentioned
